San Diego Charger Fans Need to Stop Whining
I really don't mean to be disrespectful, but show some class, San Diego.
Chargers fans need to stop their whining about a call thatย admittedly helped lead to their teamโs defeat on Sunday.
The ref made the correct call after his mistake, because the rules are written to protect the NFL's franchises: its quarterbacks. In other words, once a whistle is blown, when a quarterback is involved in the pocket, the play is dead, even if the ref made a mistake. That's the reality, so stop your crying.

Despite that terrible call, the players are still professional athletes and the fact that their defense imploded should not be a reason for an NFL rule change.ย It doesnโt matter what the rule said in the past or what could be changed in the future.
Officials miss and goof up calls all the time. You just donโt hear a lot about all the missed and blown calls unless you listen to each teamโs radio broadcast, where announcers are usually a bit more critical of refs than on national TV and national radio.
Plus, the call did not win the game for the Broncos. Denver was able to convert a TD on fourth-and-goal from the four, and then won the game on a typically gutsy two-point conversion call from Mike Shanahan.
In other words, San Diego fans, your team had the game handed to you and still couldn't hold on.
So, letโs get this straight. San Diegoโs pathetic defense allowed a touchdown and a conversion that it should never have allowed. Thatโs what lost it for you, Chargers' fans, not referee Ed Hochuli.
What shouldย really be looked into is why slick footballs, which quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers have such a difficult time handling, are being put into games.
Had it been San Diego's quarterback from whose hands the ball had slipped, Chargers fans would be crying about slick footballs.
Just shut the heck up, okay? You are embarrassing yourselves.
