With 2010 coming to a close, it's the prefect time to start throwing out our 2011 WWE predictions. But I've decided to take another approach to this. Instead of bringing you the same tired, boring, stale predictions, I'm going to throw a few curveballs your way.
If you're expecting to hear "Alberto Del Rio wins the WWE Title" or "Chris Jericho returns" then you are sorely mistaken. I'm thinking outside the box. Basically, I want to make predictions that make you guys blast me in the comments, calling me an idiotic pipe dreamer.
Keep in mind, these predictions are not what I want to happen, just some things I believe could. Without further ado, let's get this thing started.
Yes, I can definitely see this one coming to fruition. Let's look at the facts.
Truth will be 39 in less than a month. He's been with the company for roughly two and a half years and has nothing but a 21 day reign as United States Champion to show for himself.
He debuted new music a few months back and it completely flopped, reverting back to his original "What's Up?" tunes. Not to mention the guy isn't allowed in Canada, that can't help. Maybe he's already got a leg out the door.
Yep, it's going to be a long year for Kofi. Though he was once an upper-card draw, he's become nothing more than a glorified jobber as of late.
Sure, he may get a random IC Title match here and there or maybe gets thrown into a random tag team like everyone seems to be doing these years, but don't expect to see Kingston wearing any WWE gold this year.
2011 is the year JTG takes a step forward and captures a championship in World Wrestling Entertainment. While his much more intimidating former tag team partner got sent down and eventually released, JTG has been kept on and what looks like the start of somewhat relevance.
His own segment "Str8 Outta Brooklyn" is a start in getting him on TV more.
Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
I am pretty sold on this prediction as Dolph is my pick to win a Money In The Bank briefcase in 2011. He's gotten his start in the main event scene with two matches with Super Cena this past week. A nice showing in the Rumble should follow, along with a spot into the Elimination Chamber. By midyear, expect Ziggler to be fully enveloped in main events.
With Triple H on the verge of returning, that would give Raw Cena, Orton, and Triple H all at the top of the face card. We all know Cena isn't going anywhere and Hunter has been off TV long enough to where any feuds with top Raw heels (after Sheamus, there's Miz, Punk, and Barrett) would feel fresh. That leaves Orton being sent to the blue squad as the "shocking" draft pick in April to feud with some new guys.
Captain Charisma will be returning to action soon enough. When he does, expect him to attempt to get his revenge on Del Rio. Also, expect him to fail and for Alberto to get the best of him.
After that, look for Christian to finally get himself involved in a feud with his old pal Edge, playing the whole "you got what I deserved" card that WWE commonly rehashes.
Hey, I didn't say WWE would make any bold changes in its formula.
It's been over four months since Sheffield broke his ankle at a live event in Hawaii. The original prognosis called for him to miss four to six months, leading us to believe he will be back shortly.
At Summerslam, just before his injury, Sheffield eliminated both John Morrison and R-Truth before being eliminated himself. An elimination that took a Bret Hart chair shot, a Codebreaker by Jericho, and a spear by Edge. It's obvious Vinny Mac has some high hopes for Skip, who is still technically a part of Nexus from what I am being led to believe. Who knows what'll happen, but I like his future in 2011.
The following top superstars will NOT wear either of the two top titles:
- Wade Barrett
- Rey Mysterio
- The Undertaker
- The Big Show
- John Morrison
So, with none of those guys wearing championship gold in 2011, who does that leave to wear the straps? Here are the ONLY guys who will be champions in the new year:
- The Miz
- Randy Orton
- John Cena
- Dolph Ziggler
- Chris Jericho
- Triple H
- Jack Swagger
- Alberto Del Rio
- CM Punk
I'm going to keep this one simple. Undertaker loses at Wrestlemania 27. I'm not sure who to, but the legendary streak comes to an end in Atlanta!
There you have it—10 bold predictions for the 2011 WWE year. So feel free to tell me how stupid I am and bash what I have to say, I honestly look forward to hearing it. Also, chime in with some of your own bold predictions for the upcoming year. Should be interesting.
As always, I will leave you with a picture of my little English muffin, Layla.
