If what I am reading is true, the Knicks have received an incredible blessing. A team is willing to take Zach Randolph away from the Knicks and give us some players that can contribute. It is only a matter of Donnie Walsh accepting the offer the Grizzlies have made him.
I say that you do it right now before they change their minds. First off, the Knicks can not have a front court with Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph. With the two of them on the court, there is no way either of them will get the amount of touches they want. More importantly, they don't play any defense.
That is huge, especially when playing man-to-man. Secondly, Randolph's contract runs until the 2010-2011 season. That is after the fantasy draft of a free agent market, where the Knicks will be looking to bring LeBron James to the Garden.
This will also give the Knicks some players who can contribute off the bench. Milicic has been a bust and there is no doubting that. However, Milicic can be a decent role player for the Knicks as a backup center. I don't see a place for him at the power forward position when Chandler and David Lee are taking up those two roster spots.
Jaric doesn't have any basketball talent that the Knicks can use. However, his hot wife (Adriana Lima) can help to bring more fans to the game and give the people watching the game on TV something beautiful to look at. Because this season, the Knicks won't be pretty.
Most importantly, their contracts will expire before the 2010 free agent market opens. Their contracts will also give the Knicks 17 players on their roster. They will need to cut two of them, and I can't see anybody more deserving that Stephon Marbury. That cancer needs to be removed from the team. He's the second player I don't care about.
Though that makes the Knicks less talented overall, it improves the cohesion of the pieces. The Knicks would both improve and become closer to reaching their goal of being under the cap for 2010.
So, in light of all of that: Donnie Walsh, accept the deal.

NO this move make sno sense at all. Randolph is a all star caliber PF. and could easily make the AS team in the east in the right situation. this nonsense about not fitting in is BS. ooo you mean like shaq? come on, first off for Randolph i want a 1st round pick. he is still young, he will get you 20-10 a night. a natural 20-10 guy. and those are hard to come by. elton brand, tim, duncan, garnett. do you see that company? no, i mean, thats not even the biggest reason why this makes no sense. why? because we are replacing him with scrubs with muti years too! its not like they are expiring contracts. why replace a good player who is overpaid with 2 not so good players who are also overpaid and you still have to pay the good player you traded? and yeah, the knicks will STILL have pay ZBO. NOPE SORRY. and as for marbury, no, he will not be cut. the 2 players that will be cut is jerome james and milik rose. dont let your dislike for marbury clog your vision. for once in his knicks stint, he has a coach that plays his game,. and even if he's not with us, he wont be cut anyway. he's still the best guard on the team, arguably still the best player, no matter how much of an idiot he is. jaric has 3 years darko has 2, if they were expiring this year? maybe. because we dont have a 2010 pick in the marbury deal, i would want a 09 pick anyway

these is no way that we are gettinga 1st round pick for Zebo. His trade value took a serious hit when it was shown that he couldn't play with Curry and when D'Antoni was made coach. Randolph plays no defense what so ever. The guys you mentioned can at least play some defense. Randolph gives up twice the amount of points compared to what he scores. We have to clear any cap that we can. I'd prefer to trade Curry, but nobody wants Eddy. The important thing is that zebo is owed ten million more dollars in 2010 than Jaric and Milicic's contract will expire by then.

in any deal for Randolph you gotta get back equal value. even if he'sa bit overpaid by a few million, because lets face it, thats what being a 20-10 guy pays you automatically. he should get 11-12 million but he's not highly overpaid. walsh did the right thing in not dealing with the clippers. they wanted us to take him for trash kinda like the grizzlies got for pau. we need a 1st rnd pick at least. they have some nice guys i want, i would take Javaris Crittenton. we need picks, we need value. dont rush this. i have a feeling the market will open for ZBO. i think that he can still give good production. we are still rebuildingyou know. at beat if done properly he'll be with us till the AS break. or till the end of the season, but someone will want him, and someone will pay for him in some sort of way. i dont want to get rid of him so badly that ill take to decent guys and still pay ABO about 4-5 million to make up the difference. remember the money bum wallace got? dont you think ZBO is worth more than that? speaking of wallace, i would take him in with a pick. his contract expires exactly in 2010, so we can get wade or whoever. dare i say LBJ

I agree that if we trade him we shouldn't pick up any of his salary. But I don't think West will give up a 1st round pick and I can't see any teams that would be willing to give the Knicks a first round pick.

No doubt. The thing is that both Zebo and Curry can't coexist. One of them has to go and there are no offers for Curry.

Zach is space eater who grabs defensive rebounds in the 1/2 court. He also has a very nice mid range J that he uses out of the post. He does nothing else on the basketball floor most nights and I mean nothing people need to get of this 20 and 10 kick. Its irrelevent. He doesn't defend, does run, doesn't move without the ball, is a ball stopper on offensive, and is an overall liaibility as a basketball player.

there is no doubt. To make a comparison to another New York team, Z-bo is the Jason Giambi of the New York Knicks. Puts up some numbers, but in reality is a liability to his team.

you know what? i dont like Zbo much either, but this BS about him being a liability bugs me. he is less of one than lee. lee is only more athletic than him. thats it. he is not a better rebounder, ball handler inside scorer, outside scorer, NOTHING. he too is too small to guard the 4 and too slow to guard the 3 with slow feet. but at least Randolph can shoot right? yeah he's overpaid, but check this. if lee improved his shooting like randolph, he to would ''take'' shots from curry. why? because face it, curry is a soft guy. you have to force him the ball. soon they will say danilo is taking shots from curry too. this is all about curry being soft, not randolph

He is a liability. He clogs the court, can't play defense, and doesn't hustle. Curry is a liability in the same way, however no one wants to deal for Curry. David Lee has been the best New York Knick ever since he came here. He hustles, rebounds, and never gives up. Plus, he is the only player that is respected and liked by the Garden. He is a throwback to greater days for the Knicks and the NBA (when it was on NBC). He is our Charles Oakley and you can't ask for more than that from him.
