The Missouri Tigers (10-2) will face the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-5) on December 28th in Tempe, Arizona as they have accepted a bid to the Insight Bowl. The announcement came Sunday night after much speculation by Mizzou fans as to where their Tigers may end up in the NCAA version of post-season play.
This will be the second time the Tigers have played at the Insight Bowl and the sixth consecutive bowl game under head coach Gary Pinkel.
The Tigers were able to share in their third Big 12 North Division Title in four years as coach Pinkel continues to build the Missouri football program. With the bowl invite, Pinkel passes former MU coach and College Football Hall of Fame coach Dan Devine for the most consecutive bowl appearances at Missouri.
Prior to Pinkel's arrival, the Tigers went to only two bowl games in the span of 19 years.
A proud coach Pinkel addressed the media via conference call Sunday night. "We're very pleased to accept the invitation to play in the 2010 Insight Bowl, this is going to be a great reward for out team, and our fans. Iowa is a very talented team that will present a lot of challenges, so we look forward to working hard over the next few weeks to prepare for what should be a great game and a great trip for our program."
The University of Missouri has made tickets available to fans at: www.mutigers.com.
The tickets will be available for $64.00.
Missouri Sports Blog recommends contacting the Mizzou Alumni Association. They will be hosting the Official Mizzou Insight Bowl Tour with packages made available for Tiger fans to travel to Phoenix.
