Johnson Dominates Another Boring Race At Fontana?

The question that I have after watching the race Sunday night is why does the Sprint Cup Series race in Fontana, California, twice a year?

Jimmie Johnson ended up dominating the race in route to his third victory of the season.

The top ten finishers in the race were as follows: Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, David Reutimann, and Clint Bowyer.

Some notable finishers were Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 11th, Brian Vickers in 12th, David Ragan in 13th, Jeff Gordon in 15th, Ryan Newman in 16th, Jeff Burton in 17th, and Tony Stewart in 22nd position.

The top twelve in the point standings are Busch, Edwards, Johnson, Earnhardt, Burton, Biffle, Harvick, Stewart, Kenseth, Gordon, Hamlin, and Bowyer. David Ragan and Kasey Kahne are still outside the top twelve in 13th and 14th position with just one week remaining before the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins.

They will have one last shot at Richmond next week to see if they qualify to compete for the championship.

Now, I really want to address my opinion on only racing at Fontana once a year.

The races that they have out in California are too boring with very little excitement.

Johnson basically led the whole race from start to finish.

I believe that NASCAR should reevaluate the sport and go back to the south where racing began. I think that Darlington deserves a second race because NASCAR took Darlington's second race away so that Fontana could have a second race.

NASCAR should know that they are losing money and their fans as well.

Television ratings have been down recently and people do not want to drive to the tracks anymore due to the increase in fuel prices.

The fans want racing back at places like Darlington and Rockingham.

Those tracks provide exciting racing as well as good finishes. If NASCAR would stop treating it's sport like a business and start thinking about the drivers and the fans again, they would take away races like Fontana that are boring and go back to Rockingham.

Please NASCAR fans, help me to spread the word and get NASCAR to go back to Rockingham or Darlington and stop wasting our time by racing out on the west coast at Fontana.

I think that NASCAR is trying to make California better by the schedule change they made for next year. While I don't think that it's going to make the racing better it might sell more tickets and that's what NASCAR is most concerned about. However, I still don't like the fact that the Atlanta race got kicked out of the chase for California, after all, Atlanta is a lot more exciting than California any day.

Samuel, I agree....that was a snooze fest. I know they are trying real hard in California but.....there are some other fine tracks out there that could bring just a little bit of excitement, especially to the pre-chase.

Unless it's a road course, NASCAR has never gone over in California. We saw a Nationwide race sell out in a downpour in Montreal...and the racing was excellent.

Time to cut bait or fish in Canada.
