WWE RAW: One Door Closes, Another Door Opens—or “An Eye for an Eye”

This past Monday saw the departure of one of RAW’s biggest stars, as Mike Adamle made the announcement that John Cena would be out indefinitely after having surgery to repair a severely herniated disc. Due to the injury, Adamle had to find a replacement in the Championship Scramble.

In the end, he picked a perfect replacement for Cena: Former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio. Mysterio now joins Kane, Batista, JBL, and World Champion CM Punk to represent RAW’s Championship Scramble. But Batista and Kane had some unfinished business of their own.

In the second main event of the evening, Kane and Batista took their personal animosity to another level as Kane tried to take Batista out of the Scramble right along with Cena. Kane tried to take out the injured leg of The Animal, but Batista managed to fight out of assassination attempt and turn the tide as well.

Instead of Batista being carted off, it was Kane that was left in the middle of ring holding his leg.

But the biggest news of the night wasn’t just Mysterio’s return at Unforgiven. It was the announcement that Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels will have one last battle.

After returning to RAW following the assault on his wife, Rebecca, HBK made it clear that he wants Jericho at Unforgiven. Unfortunately, Jericho didn’t have the balls to actually be at the show. Despite trying to skate out of a possible lawsuit, Jericho accepted an unsanctioned match against Michaels at Unforgiven. HBK made it clear that it would be “an eye for an eye.”

ECW on Sci-Fi: The Land of Extreme Joins The Championship Scramble

The biggest match of the year for ECW will take place at Unforgiven as GM Teddy Long announced that ECW Champion Mark Henry will defend the ECW Championship at Unforgiven in a Championship Scramble. Despite protests from the World Strongest Couple (Henry and Tony Atlas), four superstars punched their tickets for a date with Henry in less than two weeks.
