A Roll Tide Amongst the Buckeyes

I'm the oddball around here it seems. The looks people give me sometimes are priceless. They see me driving around, car flags attached.

The crimson is close to scarlet, but upon further review they don't see that "block o". They see an elephant and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Yes, I am one of very few here in Buckeye country, but I am very proud.

The season is finally here. No more waiting, no more speculation. Soon, Alabama will kick off against Clemson and we'll find out just what this 2008 edition of "The Tide" is all about.

The beginning of the college football season is a magical time. We are all 0-0. All the dreams are still in place.

Cautious optimism permeates across websites, blogs, and message boards all over the country. What if? What if we beat Clemson? Can we win 8, 9 games this year?

Some folks drink too much crimson kool aid every year. As much as I'd like to see us go 12-0, I know that won't happen, but yet, it's still possible right now. As the hour approaches we continually check and re-check websites. It was once daily, then hourly, now we just hit the refresh button in a panic to check and see if someone, somewhere has written about how OUR team has an edge in any phase of anything.

Folks dig up stats, ridiculous stats. Stats like, "hey, in even number years when we open in a dome during an olympic year with a new Batman movie in theatres... well, we go undefeated!"

The excitement is mounting and it will soon be time to kick off.
