EliteXC Circus: Coming Soon to a City Near You

What do you get when you put the "baddest man on the planet" and the "world's most dangerous man" in the same cage together?

An epic showdown between two of the greatest mixed martial arts fighters today.  A knock down, drag out, bloody mess of MMA eye candy.  A fight for the ages, right?  Wrong.

Put a tent over the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL on October fourth, 2008 for the EliteXC event and you have a circus.  All that is missing now are trapeze artists, a couple unicycles, and a bearded lady.

October fourth will indeed be the night that Kimbo Slice (3 - 0) and Ken Shamrock (26 - 13 - 2) lock horns for a main event showdown.  The winner will get a victory bonus and a lifetime supply of peanuts.

Kimbo is EliteXC's golden boy.  He is the face of their organization and the main cog in their marketing campaign.

He is coming off three straight victories to start his MMA career against Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott, and James Thompson

Shamrock, on the other hand, is a veteran of the fight game and an MMA icon in a past lifetime.  Currently he is 44 years old and has lost eight of his last ten fights including his last five.  Calling him washed up is probably an understatement.

I now find myself wondering what the rest of the fight card will look like that night.  Who else could be ready to fight by October to fight on the undercard?  Mike Tyson vs. Butterbean?  That could be a possibility.  Wait, I got it.  Hong Man Choi vs. Floyd Mayweather.  That has to be on the card for sure.

If I force myself to peel away the sarcasm and truly examine this fight there are a few thoughts that come to mind.
