"Fight Night" bonuses of $10,000 have been secured by Eric Koch, Urijah Faber, Cub Swanson and Mackens Semerzier for their performance's at Thursday's WEC 52 event, which took place at The Pearl at The Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
WEC officials confirmed the bonuses at the night's postfight press conference.
Koch earned the night's "Knockout of the Night" bonus, Faber took home the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and Swanson and Semerzier each netted a bonus for their "Fight of the Night" performance.
Koch made quick work of late replacement Francisco Rivera, knocking him down with a head kick before finishing Rivera with strikes on the ground at the 1:36 mark of the first round. Koch beat out Anthony Njokuani and Dustin Poirier for the night's honor.
Faber earned yet another bonus in his final WEC performance with a rear naked choke victory over Takeya Mizugaki in the night's main event. In his bantamweight debut, Faber controlled Mizugaki against the cage before securing his back and sinking in the choke, which put Mizugaki out cold.
Faber had stiff competition, as Joseph Benavidez, Demetrious Johnson and Michael McDonald all scored submission victories on the night.
Swanson and Semerzier had a crowd-pleasing back and forth battle in the night's second preliminary bout. The fast-paced affair had lots and back and forth action, and was met with a standing ovation from the crowd at the arena, and was no doubt in the running for "Fight of the Night'. Swanson scored the split decision victory on 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28 scores, and the fight was included in the night's televised portion.
