Although this was the first time a ranked team got beaten by D-1AA team this game will only be remembered for a couple years. Appalachian State came into the game as the two-time D-1AA national champion, though they were still a 31-point underdog. The Wolverines were not prepared for the spread offensive scheme that App. St. brought in.
7. North Carolina St. 24, Florida State 7 ( Sep. 6, 1998)
College Football Fans will recall that the Seminoles were a major college football power in the 90's. Between 1987 and 2000 the Seminoles finished in the top 5 in the AP poll every year. N.C. State was 12-25 their previous three seasons and were demoralized by the Seminoles the last couple times they had played them. But N.C. State picked off Florida St. quarterback Chris Weinke six times in this game.

10. Carnegie Tech 19, Notre Dame 0Ā ( Nov. 27, 1926)
Knute Rockne skipped the trip to Pittsburgh so he could watch the Army-Navy game in Chicago. His overconfidence backfires as assistant coach Hunk Anderson follows Rockne's game-plan but was over-powered as the Tartans dominate the Irish from beginning to end.
Although these games are in no particular order of which is a greater upset than the other, these should give Wolverines fans a little redemption to know that they aren't the only team to be humiliated.
