The Miz Is Awesome, and So is THQ's WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011!

Former reality show superstar Mike "The Miz" Mizanin is the hottest new star in WWE, a reverse play on World Wrestling Entertainment Chairman of the Board Vincent Kennedy McMahon's dream of making WWE superstars into mainstream superstars. Miz is a mainstream (well, reality) superstar who became one of the top superstars in WWE.

Miz has been the poster boy for WWE's latest video game, Smackdown vs Raw 2011 as presented by THQ video games. Just like The Miz, the game is awesome.

While Smackdown vs Raw 2010 was considered a state-of-the-art game with breakthrough technology, there are no big surprises in this edition. That's not a bad thing. Sometimes, technology moves way too fast, and no one gets the hang of things. When was the last time you really knew how to use the new version of the iPhone? Since a new one comes out all the time, it's difficult to keep up with all the new bells and whistles.

Instead, this game just perfects the ideas implemented in Smackdown vs Raw 2010, and that's one of the very smart things THQ did with this game. In addition to Championship Scramble, Extreme Rules, and the ability to modify existing outfits in Superstar Threads, this gfame includes WWE Universe.

What is WWE Universe, you may ask? I'll tell you.

Combining old career and exhibition modes, you get all the WWE shows here. Raw, SmackDown, Superstar and pay-per-view events. It plans the cards based on rivalries and rankings, and you get to play whatever match you want.

You can even create your own card. What you cannot do is put one of the wrestlers in a title match, which is okay because you have earn that right by climbing the ranks and winning a No. 1 Contender match. Or you can be like The Miz and grab the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania. Cool idea.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 also includes the much-hyped Road To WrestleMania, which is the most difficult series of tasks I've ever had to perform just to get on the grandest stage of them all. That's the catch. It's the same as in WWE. If The Miz wants to headline WrestleMania, he has to be awesome 365 days a year. If you want it that badly in the video game, you have to be like The Miz.

And The Miz is just like this video game.
