Nemanja Vidic Can't Handle the Rain
I was shocked when I heard today that Nemanja Vidic wants to leave Manchester United.
The big Serbian defender is crucial to United, his partnership with Rio Ferdinand key in United's brick wall of a defence. Along with Ferdinand, he was pivotal in Manchester United's two successive Premier League titles, as well as their UEFA Champions League trophy.
And now to hear that after bringing so much success to Manchester United, the Serbian wants to leave the Red Devils. It appears he now wants to move to Spain and the attacking football of La Liga. Another Manchester United playerĀ having his head turned by Real Madrid!? I was fuming until I read what he said.

"I will never stay toĀ live in England that's for sure," he told Russia's Football Weekly magazine. I was thinking Real Madrid were in contact with him until I read below.
"You get a brief glimpse of sunlight before it's all cloudy again."
"The winters are mild, but in the summer the temperatures seldom go higher than 20 degrees. And it rains, rains, rains."
He then went on to criticise the city of Manchester itself. "In England, they say that Manchester is the city of rain. It's main attraction is considered to be the timetable at the railway station, where trains leave for other, less rainy cities."
The weather?! He wants to leave Manchester United, arguably the greatest football club in the world, just because of the weather! Surely he could come up with something better than that. Fortunately/unfortunately he did when he criticised life in England.
When talking about people in England, he said: "Throughout the week they all work so hard. They only talk to people at lunch break. Then in the evening they come home and watch the telly, so they can get up early for work the next day."
"The only time to meet friends is at weekends, but for football players it's the busiest time of all. It was much easier for me to adapt to Russia than England. In England I had no one to talk to."
For me that was an excuse just as bad as the weather one. I don't think he quite understands that people actually have to work to earn a living.
ButĀ now you know why Vida wants to leave United. Here in England, we don't know what sunlight isāManchester Picadilly is by far the best place in Manchester with its lovely timetable, and people don't bother going out during the week, unless it's going to work. We don't talk to people that muchĀ over here either.
But unfortunately for Vida, there is such thing as rain in Spain (as I unfortunately found out on holiday), and the Spanish do have to work to earn a living as well. Although, fortunately for him, there is a rather nice timetable in Madrid's Chamartin train station. It could well be the decisive factor in his move to Real Madrid.
