Week 1 College Football Preview

Can you feel it?  It is the time of year where fans will walk by their schools tailgate area and have the aroma of grilled hotdogs, hamburgers, sausage, and wings fill their noses.  Meanwhile they will fight through the crowded area (I know I will in Tuscaloosa at the Quad) to get the stadium while the sound of the marching band blasts their respective fight songs it must mean that it's time for college football.

 

The first week of college football will provide a good base test for what to expect this season.  If your team wins, don’t despair, and if they lose, hope is not lost.  Nick Saban said it best, “you can lose this game and go 11-1 and win and go 1-11.”  Here are some of the games I think are the most interesting of the week and how I think they will go down..

 

Utah at Michigan- I smell upset in this game, Michigan will be running an offense that they don’t have the personnel to run it effectively yet.

 

Appalachian St. at LSU- Appalachian St. will keep it close longer than people think but LSU should pull away and win decisively.

 

Illinois at Missouri- As long as Juice Williams wears orange and blue, I think Illinois will put up a fight and keep it close, but Missouri is returning a very good team and I think that will be the difference and the Tigers should win.

 

Alabama vs. Clemson- I will do my best to take my crimson glasses off, my head tells me Clemson should win this game.  My gut tells me Alabama could shock some people.  My gut has been more trustworthy than my head; therefore I think Alabama will win this game by a slim margin.

 

Get the wings ready and dust off your schools gear.  Its time for college football, thank goodness, the wait has been far too long.
