Batter Gives Up Mid-AB 🤔

My Revelation

Mitchell MorseAug 25, 2008

As I was mowing my lawn this evening, I thought of my predictions.  If you haven't heard, I am trying to predict all FBS teams' schedules by the start of the season.  Anyways, as I was thinking, I realized that my predictions and college football are very similar.  Here is what I thought about while I was guiding my self-propelled mower today.

I was planning to have all my predictions done by Friday night.  Everything was on track, I had to predict 12.3 (repeating) teams per day to get there, which was just about right.  It was all smooth sailing until I hit a roadblock.  The season's first game is on Thursday.  This left me with two options.  I could release the predictions for Thursday and finish on schedule or I could kick it into high gear and do what I said I would, which is have the predictions out by the season's start.  I chose option number two.  So I got up this morning and really got to work and I'm now feeling like finishing by Thursday morning is very achievable.  Now how does this relate to college football, you may ask?  A college football team can be on track to easily reach it's goals, but something unexpected happens.  A player gets injured, a game is closer than it should be, a player is suspended, or anything that could be considered as a roadblock.  The team then has two options:  they can take the easy way out, hoping to still make their goals or they can kick it into high gear and conquer whatever it is that's standing in the way of their goal.

Speaking of goals, I set a goal of getting through the C-USA, Independents, and six teams in the MAC.  As I got to the MAC, I kept on trucking until it hit 1:00 AM.  I had finished two MAC teams and Bowling Green was up next.  I decided that my goals could wait, but my sleep couldn't.  In college football, a team has goals set.  They can't get distracted by anything that could put their team's goals into jeopardy, no matter how tough it is.

My third and final example has to do with this very blog.  I need to get through the MWC and at least half of the PAC-10 tonight to stay on track.  So I should probably be doing that right now.  Teams need to learn to not give in to off the field distractions.  I am a horrible example of this as I can rarely take longer than an hour straight without doing something else, no matter how close I am to being done.  But like I said, I really need to get back to predictions.......after I go get something to eat.....and maybe watch some college football reruns....
