Arsenal’s Style: Why Have So Many Players Fallen for It?
For years, Arsenalās style of play on the field has been attracting young players with good technical ability. We cannot blame such youngsters for wanting to play for the North London based club.
It is a stage on which young talent from all over the world want to prove themselves in front of the worldās eyes.
Arsene Wenger has always passionately supported the youth policy of Arsenal Football Club. He is a man with perspective, a man with a vision and a philosophy of how the beautiful game should be played.
It is hard to find such managers in football nowadays. Arsenal can count themselves very lucky to have such a manager on their side.
The style of play "The Professor" established at Arsenal has been thought to be one of the most attractiveāif not the most attractiveāstyle in Europe.
Arsenal cannot help but be noticed. It makes us wonder why they lose when they lose. It makes us wonder why they donāt score when they play beautifully.
Wenger turned Arsenal into the charismatic team it is today. It has an appeal that is hard to resist, especially if you are a young gifted player waiting for a chance to show the world what you can do.
Again, Wengerās policy of bringing young prodigies to Arsenal and giving them a chance to prove themselves has done the trick for the club. It has become a dream for young players to play for Arsenal.
Wengerās ability to inspire confidence in these youngsters has contributed a lot to world football, creating such football stars and icons as Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Francesc Fabregas, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Adebayor, Robert Pires, Freddy Ljungberg, and many more.
The simple fact that Arsenal have created football icons adds an extra charm to the team.
Francesc Fabregas was fielded for the first time in an official match for Arsenal at the age of 16. At that age, most teenagersā minds are occupied with worrying about acne or how to talk to their desired beautiful girl.
At Arsenal, a 16-year-old is focused on how to pass the ball, how to not let down the managerās trust in him, how to improve, how to play against big teams.
Fabregas is now 21. He is one of best the midfielders in the world. At the age of 16 he successfully filled the shoes of one of Arsenalās biggest legendsāPatrick Vieira. He epitomizes every young playerās dreams, and the success of Arsene Wengerās system.
Arsenal has slowly become the equivalent of āThe American Dreamā for young players. Not once or twice has a player come out with a statement like: āItās my dream to play for Arsenalā or āItās the perfect choice for me.ā
And we cannot blame them for that. Arsenalās style has sparked the imaginations of plenty of players and made them wonder how they would fit into a side like the Gunnersā.
Arsenalās technical style of football is another reason players want to join the team. Almost every boy with well-developed technique and skills expresses a desire to play for the Gunners.
That comes down to the fact that Arsenal play such attractive football. Liam Brady as technical director has listened to Wenger and shaped these teenage players into men ready for the Premier League.
Who would not want to play alongside technical players like Fabregas, Rosicky, van Persie, Nasri, and Walcott? It has a special appeal.
Arsenal FC signifies dreams. And itās up to Wenger and the Arsenal board to keep these dreams alive.
It is one of the reasons I am an Arsenal fanāto keep dreaming.
