Alabama Football: Monday Message Board 8/25

Nic GulasSenior Analyst IAugust 24, 2008

Hey guys,

I don't know if anyone else can feel it, but it is now officially game week!

This is the week we have been waiting for since Dec. 30, 2007.

Alabama vs. Clemson is in the very near future.

And, even with all of this, it was a rather quiet week for Alabama.

  • The Tide practiced this week to finish off fall camp, and this team still manages to dodge injuries for the most part. The only "causality" has been a recurring hamstring injury for Charlie Higgenbotham, and he is expected to be available for the Clemson game.
  • Coach Nick Saban has made one change of note in the past week on the defensive front. Former defensive tackle Lorenzo Washington has now been moved to the outside, leaving Josh Chapman and Terrance Cody on the inside. Saban obviously has tremendous faith in these guys to move a veteran like Washington this close to the first game.
  • Alabama spent some time this week preparing for their first set of Tigers, beginning preparation on Thursday.
  • Nick Saban will hold his first game-week press conference at what will become normal time on Monday. He will sit behind the podium at noon. At this press conference, Saban will release his all-important depth chart to the media. This will be the first time everyone discovers who the special eight-to-10 freshmen are who will help contribute this season, and there is a good chance the two guys above will make an impact.

So now that the past week has been covered, it's time to get to this week's topic.

Lately, we have been discussing the upcoming season and its important games, but now that the season is here, there is no more looking forward.

With that being said, this week's topic is: What is the biggest storyline heading into this week's game against Clemson in Atlanta?

There are plenty of angles from which to look at this game, as well as numerous things surrounding the game worth noting.

Is the biggest topic those heralded freshmen? Could it be Alabama's apparent new obsession with neutral site games? Or is it something else that you notice?

As always, you can leave a comment below or write an article yourself on what is the biggest topic going into the 2008 season opener.

That's all for this week, guys.

Let's hope the next time we talk, Saban's crew is 1-0 for the season and against Tigers.

Thanks, and roll Tide,
