Fedor, Nog, Anderson, And Many More Fight For Their Countries

Mike LeanzaAug 24, 2008

Now this would be a dream come true for me and probably every mma fan around the globe. Think about it. Each weight class gets 4 fighters. Each representing there own different country. Dream matches are unavoidable and guess what else? They are all free. This will probably never happen but just think if it did.

Heavyweight Division

Fedor Emelianenko-Russia

UFC 6 Reveals 5-Star Fighter Ratings

Randy Couture-USA

Antonio Roderigo Nogueira-Brazil

Andrei Arlovski- Belarus

These selections are based upon shedog rankings. Tim Silvia does not make it in because he is from the U.S. and Randy took his spot. And all the Brazilians miss out because Nogueria is champion. Fedor is seeded first followed by Nogueira, Couture and Arlovski. Couture and Fedor battle first in what is deemed matchup of the century. Fedor wins and moves on to the finals to face Nogueira who defeated Arlovski in his first fight. The bronze medal match is won by Arlvski in a stunning upset due to Randys exhaustion from his fight with Fedor. Fedor defeats Big Nog once again for the fourth time in an epic battle that is decided by the judges scorecards. And dont worry the judges actually got this one right.

Light Heavyweight-

Forrest Griffin- USA

Lyoto Machida-Brazil

Soukoudjou- Cameroon

Goran Reljic-Croatia

I know, I know. Why wasnt Chuck Liddell or Rampage chosen. Why Forrest? Forrest is the champion, so he gets to represent the USA. If you look at the rankings, all but one of the fighters in the top ten, are from the US or Brazil. Soukoudjou was the only one that was not. And why did Goran get in here? He isnt from the US or Brazil and is ranked higher than anyone else from different countries. Seedings start with Forrest, then Machida, Soukoudju, and Reljic. In the first fight Forrest once agian outwills his opponent and gets the decision for pushing the action, and keeping the fight standing. He gets to fight for gold against Machida, who once again defeates The African Assassin. The bronze medal is won by Belarus once again. In what looked to be a win by Soukoudju, Goran pulls a kimura from his back and submits the Cameroonian. The Gold medal fight is everyhting youd think it would be. Although I cheered my ass off for Forrest to pull this one off, Lyoto works the hit and run, bloodying Forrest (Honestly did you think Forrest wouldnt bleed at some point) and getting a controversial split decision.

Middleweight-

Anderson Silva-Brazil

Robbie Lawler-USA

Yushin Okami-Japan

Patrick Cote-Canada

Im disappointed that Mike Bisping didnt get to go to the Olympics but theres always 2012 right? Rankings are just as you see them above so lets get started. Anderson Silva defeats Yushin Okami in the much anticipated rematch, silve wins via RNC. Robbie represents the USA beautifully and defeast Pat Cote by TKO. Okami would take bronze as expected by decision defeating a woozy Cote still recovering from a Ruthless beatdown. Now this may sound weird, but I have dreampt about this match hundreds of times. And what better place than the Olympics for this match to occur. Now you're probably wondering why Rich Franklin wasnt chosen for the American side, reason being we had a better chance of taking gold from Anderson by not placing a guy that has been pummeled by Silva twice before. Unfortunately the US gets its second silver medal after Anderson works his reach advantage and eventually catches Robbie with those devastating knees, and winning the Gold by RNC.

Welterweight-

GSP-Canada

Josh Koscheck-USA

Karo Parysian-Armenia

Thiago Alves-Brazil

Rankings are GSP first followed by Alves, Koscheck, and Parysian. BTW, Dont complain about Kos being chosen, hes ranked number 2 in the world at welterweight and represents our country well. Kos defeats Karo in his first fight by decision. Koscheck shows his wrestling ability and even shocks Karo a couple times. The next fight is a dream match as well. Thiago comes out swinging and catches GSP. Rush recovers quickly but its not the way he envisioned the fights starting. Pitbull continues to push the pace but GSP isnt about to be pushed around. An all out slugfest ensues with the judges having to decide it. All 3 judges score the fight 29-28 in face of Alves. GASP! Bring on the comments. Thiago takes home the 3rd consecutive gold for Brazil by submitting Kos and GSP walks home with the Bronze vowing to destroy the competition in 2012. Oh and did I mention he broke Karos orbital bone. Yea, he was that pissed off.

Lightweight

BJ Penn-USA

Joachim Hansen-Norway

Takanori Gomi-Japan

Roger Huerta-Mexico

Rankings are BJ first, Gomi, Hansen,Huerta. Huerta gets to compete for Mexico due to his Mexiacan descent so please dont give me comments saying that Huerta is from the US. I know. First fight is Gomi VS Penn. Just another dream match. See, this is why mma should be in the Olympics. In this match Gomi proves why he is so amazing. Unfortunately, he drew BJ in the first round and loses by decision. The second time in his carreer hes lost to BJ. Next fight is Hansen VS Huerta. Hansen proves why he is Dream Champ but seemed to underestimate Huerta. Huerta comes out guns blazing and cathces Hansen with one of those crazy head kicks. Unfortunatly Joachim has never been knocked out and refuses to have it happen in international competition. Hansen wins by decision. Taka is upset by Huerta who TKO's Gomi for the first time in Gomis carreer. Penn VS Hansen is a quick one. BJ comes out like a bat out of hell and refuses to take home a silver. BJ wins by RNC by doing that arm trap thing.

Medal Count goes like this

Brazil-3 gold, 1 silver

USA-1 gold, 3 silver

Canada- 1 bronze

Russia-1 gold

Mexico- 1 bronze

Norway-1 silver

Japan-1 bronze

Croatia-1 Bronze

Belarus-1 Bronze

Just look at what we could have seen. Randy VS Fedor, BJ VS Gomi, Alves VS GSP,Nog VS Fedor(again) and Lawler VS Silva. All of these fighters would have brought out there A+ game because they were representing there countries. And although its true that none of these guys would have been able to do this, or would have wanted to do this (no money invloved and contractual obligations), could you imagine. All these dream fights and none of the rediculously long wait. All of the stories and the passion, all of which we will probably never get to see.
