Detroit Lions Vs. Washington Redskins Week 8: Pregrame Predictions

Yes, I am one of the 40,000 who bought a ticket so don't blame me for the blackout.  Before I head down to the game, I thought I would put out a pregame Halloween Day prediction on what will be a Big Day for the Detroit Lions!

PREDICTION ONE

I can't wait for the return of Matthew Stafford.  Despite the game-ending heroics he pulled off in Cleveland last year, I expect this to be the game everyone will remember as his true "NFL BREAKOUT GAME." 

Looking at the stats, Washington's defense is suspect at best.  Remember what Sam Bradford and St. Louis did? I am telling you that a sound offensive scheme can score on this Redskins team! 

With the Lion's receiving core healthy, I expect a BIG Day for the offense.  The line will hold, the penalties will cease, and you should expect the Lion's offense to put on a show. Stafford will not throw an interception, and he will be the offensive player of the week!

PREDICTION TWO

Speaking of breakout games, this will be Jahvid Best's first game rushing for 100-plus yards.  Yes, I know that Washington has a credible run defense, but I expect the offensive scheme brewed up by the Lions to be a mix of pass and run that will befuddle the Redskins defense, putting them back on their heals. 

Watch out for some big gains from Jahvid, both on the ground and in the air. Best will realize a day well over 180 yards in total offense, and Best will be Stafford's competition for Offensive player of the week. 

PREDICTION THREE

The return of DeAndre Levy will put some punch back into the run defense.  I also like the late season addition of Bobby Carpenter who, if you remember back to his days at Ohio State, is very comfortable in the 4-3 defensive scheme—he does and will fill the holes well.  Carpenter will be a good addition for the Lions defense.
