The New York Jets will make the playoffs.

Let’s look at recent history:

New Orleans Saints
2005 Saints 3-13
During off-season sign multiple free agents, and sign Drew Brees as their new QB

2006 Saints 13-3
Lose to 'Da Bears in NFC Championship game one game short of Super Bowl.

Baltimore Ravens
2005 Ravens 6-10
During off-season sign multiple free agents, and sign Steve McNair as their new QB

2006 Ravens 13-3
Earned first round playoff bye and lost to Indy during Divisional Playoff game.

Pittsburgh Steelers
2003 Steelers 5-11
During off-season sign multiple free agents, and sign new QB Ben Roethlisberger

2004 Steelers 15-1
Earned home field advantage and the first AFC team to win 15 games.  Lost to New England in the AFC Championship game.  One game short of the Super Bowl.

2007 Jets 4-12
During off season sign multiple free agents and get Brett Favre their new QB

2008 Jets….Who knows, but the Jets situation sounds similar to above mentioned teams.

The three teams mentioned above saw a (10+7+10)/3=9 game average win improvement.  Thus, barring injuries to key positions, the Jets could very well have a similar turn around and end up with 13 wins this season.  I will take ten wins if it gets them into the playoffs.

To all those who poo poo on the New York Jets and Brett Favre, have the courtesy to bookmark this article and revisit this December and January.  Have the integrity to post and admit you were wrong.
