Dallas Stars Golf Classic Makes 2008 Return For Charity

Ken ArmerAug 21, 2008

For those readers who live or know what Texas summers are like they also know Golf is a good free time killer, unless you time it badly and get caught in a late-afternoon thunderstorm.

Although I’ve never been much for the hockey player/wanna-be golfer thing within the ranks of the NHL I admire the fact many use such talents, or hobbies to raise money for charity work. So for those of you who have dreamed of tee-ing up with your favorite Dallas Star, read on.

The Dallas Stars will hold their annual Golf Classic on October 27, 2008 at TPC at Craig Ranch Golf Course. The course is located at8000 Collin McKinney Parkway, McKinney, TX 75070.

The fundraiser is one of the largest events of the year for the Stars, and all proceeds go to the Dallas Stars Foundation which awards grants to outstanding local children’s charities each year.

For the Golf-guru readers the format will include 32-foursomes, each foursome will include a Dallas Stars player, coach, alumnus or executive. The registration session and breakfast will start at 7am, with a shotgun start at 9am.

ā€œWe’re all looking forward to this year’s golf tournament,ā€ Stars Coach Dave Tippett told the Dallas Morning News. ā€œHaving the event in late October is great. The entire team always enjoys playing in the tournament.ā€

If your wanna-be Tiger Woods can’t get off from work, you can still follow your favorite Stars players handicaps by tuning into Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket who will provide a live broadcast from the event all morning. The Ticket is also a sponsor for the event as well as Classic BMW among others.

Stars captain Brenden Morrow and his wife Anne-Marie will serve as celebrity hosts to a Cocktail Party the night before the Golf Tournament at Classic BMW in Dallas. The dealership is located at 6800 Dallas Parkway, Plano, TX 75024 and the event goes from 6:30pm until 10pm.

At the cocktail party there will even be a celebrity draft for golf participants to bid to play with their favorite Stars players. Tickets for the party are $100, and can be purchased by clicking here now.
