VANCOUVER--The Canucks suffered back-to-back losses to the Minnesota Wild and the Chicago Blackhawks respectively. Roberto Luongo has not looked great in the two-game road swing.
In Minnesota, Roberto allowed an embarassing 6 goals in just 18 shots on goal. That gives him a .666 save % rating and over 9.00 goals against average. In the 3rd period, Cory Schneider made an surprising appearance as the reliever to Luongo. That game ended with a lot of bitter taste and heated moments between Staubitz, Rick Rypien "the Rypper" and a "Wild" fan.
Alright, looking ahead to Friday evening's re-match between the two Northwest Division rivals and the revenge for what happened Tuesday has almost everybody excited.
Thanks to Luongo for bombing it, and thanks to the "Wild" fan for providing some of the drama with the Rypper.
Now, it is expected that Roberto Luongo gets another chance at beating the Wild, but it is also possible that the coaching staff want Cory Schneider, who did well in the final period Tuesday, a chance to play just his second game of the season.
Regardless, Friday's hockey should have enough going on than simply a regular season game in the NHL schedule. Expect fireworks of some sort to happen from now and then.
P.S. The NHL executives will have an in-person hearing with Rick Rypien on Friday morning in New York City. We will be notified of the extent of Rypien's disciplinary sentence.
Thanks for following your Vancouver Canucks.
