Arsenal Crushing Their Own Hopes Of Domestic Supremacy?...
Kolo Toure! He's the man in the picture, but I've picked him out for a special reason.
As I was going through Brad Simkulet's All-Time Arsenal lineup, I noticed that Arsenal have been selling too many of their settled players. Yes, they have financial constraints with the stadium debts etc, which means they need funds but is this 'selling business' hampering their chances of lifting the Premier League again?
Yes, it does! and Brad's lineup is an Arsenal side from one season, not too long ago.
It was a time when a certain French striker, Thierry Henry played upfront for the Gunners and Robert Pires was in North London.
Goalkeeper: Jens Lehmann (now at Stutgart)
Full Backs: Ashley Cole (now at Chelsea) and Lauren (now at Portsmouth)
Center Backs: Sol Campbell(now at Portsmouth) and Kolo Toure
Right Midfielder: Freddie Ljungberg (recently released by West Ham United)
Central Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (now at Panathanikos) and Patrick Vieira (now at Inter Milan)
Left Midfielder: Robert Pires(now at Villareal)
Center Forward: Dennis Bergkamp (retired)
Striker: Thierry Henry(now at Barcelona)
If you look at the Subs then, Keown, Parlour, Cygan, Wiltord and Edu would be on your list.
There you have it, ONLY KOLO TOURE remains with the Gunners. Yes, Arsene Wenger's a good manager and he's brought in good players like Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie but even recently the likes of Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb have left the Gunners.
The Question is, is it the reason for Arsenal being unable to win the Premier League recently?
