A 3-2 record. First place. Undefeated in the division. You can probably make a case to squash everything I just said, and your case would probably hold some weight.
But as you previewed the 2010 season, and you went down the schedule, isn't this how you envisioned it? They loose the two games I thought they would. In fact, I had them 2-3 because a fully staffed New Orleans Saints team would be tough to beat.
But there is such a strong propensity to call the Cardinals overrated and a joke of team is a little presumptuous at this point. Sure, they keep giving the critics fuel to the pour on the fire.
Giving up 41 points twice in three weeks is never good. And they were pretty fortunate that Sebastian Janikowski didn't eat brunch when they beat the Raiders.
But to be good in the NFL, you have to have fortune on your side.
Let's look at the rest of the schedule for the Cardinals and predict the outcome going off what we know now.
Seattle: Cardinals are good after the bye and this just makes sense. Cards win.
Tampa Bay: If the Cardinals weren't home I would pick Tampa, but they are home so...Cards win.
Minnesota: I'm not sure the Vikings have recovered from the way the Cardinals shocked them last year. This a tough road game, and I don't think the Cardinals will be strong enough this day. Max will take a beating. Vikings win.
Seattle: I smell sweep. Cardinals win.
Kansas City: I do not like this game for a number of reasons. 1) the Cardinals don't like playing in Kansas City. 2) Todd Haley knows these Cardinals. 3) Just a bad feeling. Chiefs win.
San Francisco: I wouldn't pick the 49ers if I could. At least not in Arizona. Can I get a second on that Mr. Dockett? Cardinals win.
St. Louis: Cardinals get back to business. They will handle a beat up Rams team. Cardinals win.
Denver: This may be the Cardinals first home loss. I just don't trust the Cardinals playing Denver. They just have this effect on them. Broncos win.
Carolina: If the Cardinals lose this one, I will be upset. Carolina is really bad. Jimmy Clausen will get beat up. Cards win.
Dallas: I will be at this game. My hatred for the Cowboys is deep. Deep enough where I don't even think twice. Cards win.
San Francisco: I think this may be a rest game for the Cardinals because the division should be wrapped up. I say the 49ers because you may even see John Skelton this game.
So that sums it up. I see the Cardinals finishing up at 10-6 winning the division for the third year in a row.
There is no reason to panic Cardinal nation. Give Whiz time to get the team gelling even better. The defense played inspired against the Saints. If they play with that fire consistently, you may see a playoff run in the less-than-powerful NFC.
