Summerslam 2008 recap and thoughts

Summerslam was a PPV I thought would disappoint me. Now personally I've been encoutering alot of disappointment lately but that's another subject all together.

So how did the 20th anniversary of Summerslam stack up against classics like 91, 98 and 2002? Well it wasn't the best but far far far from the worst.

The Show opened with Jeff Hardy taking on MVP. It was an ok match but nothing amazing we get Outside interference from Shelton Benjamin costing Hardy the match. It was an ok bout but nothing amazing.

Up next we had the "Adamle original" between Santino Marella and Beth Phonix as they challenged IC Champ Kofi Kingston and Women's champion Mickie James. This for what it was was a fun bout lots of back and fourth action and a good ending with Beth scoring a victory over Mickie giving "Glamerella" the win and both titles.

Next Good Ol' HBK Shawn Michaels Makes his way down to the ring with his Wife. We get a classic set up here with Chris Jericho running Shawn down and going to punch shawn but hitting his wife instead. Classic moment and it's setting up more of what will be an epic fued.

We get a Dud for the ECW Title next as Mark Henry loses by DQ to Matt Hardy with Jeff Making the save for his brother. This could have been something but they continue to mock the ECW name with matches like this.

CM Punk would next defend his world title against JBL this was a decent match as JBL could put out at this point and was a great effort by Punk who proves he deserves to be Champion.

A very boring match would follow as Triple H defended against the Great Kahli Typical Triple H VS Bad Wrestler match here. Triple H is only as good as his opponent and Kahli is a lumbering Oaf so....this match was a disaster.

Next was the first half of the double Main Event John Cena took on Batista in what was a very good match more than I would expect from 2 weak workers like Batista and Cena. We get an amazing display though as Batista gets Cena in mid air and lands a beautiful Powerbomb. This was a good match and much more than I expected.

Finally We come to Hell in a Cell Taker VS Edge. AMAZING hell in cell containing everything a Good Hell in a Cell should spots galore good ring psychology, Sick spots and an amazing ending giving Edge his Comeuppance. Match of the night possible match of the year.

Over All Summerslam 2008 was a good Pay Per View the DVD or replay are worth checking out for the great Moment with Jericho and HBK, Cena VS Batista and Taker VS Edge.

Now Raw Last night I belive was a good follow up. Angles were advanced, Crime Tyme set up a fued with Simply Priceless which also cost them a match VS Cena. CM Punk lost to Chris Jericho by Interfereance so he remains strong and our Unforgiven Main Event is a 20 min basically Hot Potato match for the World Title.

Things are getting interesting in WWE Land once againt hat's for sure.
