NHL, NHL Northwest, Calgary Flames, Fantasy Hockey

We are now about a month away from the start of training camp for the 2008-09 NHL season, and my hockey-crazed brother and I have begun work on our own fantasy hockey magazine, predicting the stats for every player on the starting roster of an NHL team.

We hope we can accurately predict most players' statistics, and we hope to help you with your fantasy hockey teams. A new article will be posted every couple of days at the most, and some teams will come even sooner. We will be doing this in alphabetical order.

Jarome Iginla

This guy is one of the hardest workers in the entire league, and is likely to reach the 50-goal mark once again this season.

Watch Out For

Todd Bertuzzi

He was expected to rebound last year with the Anaheim Ducks, but he played so poorly that he was bought out. Look for him to struggle once again this year.

  1. I can absolutely see Iginla havin a 50-50 season this year. Another great analysis!!

    1. Thanks for the comment! Iginla is one of my favorite non-Wings player, I love the way he plays the game and he is the ultimate captain IMO.

  2. I like your synopsis and your predicted point totals. A couple of questions:

    - Has Iginla not actively campaigned for Bertuzzi to be a linemates?

    - Do you think Iginla puts up more points than Zetterberg this year?

    Nice work.

    1. Thanks for the Comment! As for the first question, I have not seen Iginla comment on Bertuzzi yet but if true that could turn out to be very interesting. It would most definitely raise Bertuzzi's value in a fantasy draft, hopefully I can find something on it. I do believe believe that Iginla will put up more points than Zetterberg this season, but not by much as I have Zetterberg at 96 points for this season.

  3. Also, that Zetterberg prediction is if his back doesn't keep him out of the lineup, as it has been an unfortunate problem for him in the past. Even so, Zetterberg still has been successful with it.

  4. Yes, Jarome puts up more points then Henrik and I was completely suprised at how reasonable yuor rankings were. Very acuratly put in my mind, great analysis!
