The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: My Thoughts and Review Of Last Nights Impact!

This week TNA had a lot of pressure on their shoulders. Besides the fact that Impact was live. It was also the last chance for TNA to sell Bound For Glory. While they did accomplish some good things in this show, it could have been a little better.

I think my biggest issue was that we only got to see four matches the whole night. I won’t hold that against them though. For the most part shows before a PPV are usually light on wrestling. So who were the big winners this week? Find out in the latest edition of the good, the bad, and the ugly!

The Good

Mickie James arrives to TNA

Ever since the rumors started to float around that Mickie James was coming to TNA I was stoked. She was by far the best women’s wrestler on the WWE roster. When she left I scratched my head in wonder how the WWE could let her go.

She should be a welcome addition to the Knockouts division. A woman with her charisma and talent can be thrown into an instant feud with just about anyone. I can’t wait to see James in TNA, with her added to the roster the Knockouts division is much stronger now.

Madison Rayne and Tara vs. the Beautiful People for the rights to the name and music

Winner the Beautiful People

This feud has dragged on for far too long. I know it served its purpose before when the Knockouts division was extremely weak, but that isn’t the case now. With that said, this was a decent match for the most part. What made it even better was the formal Introduction of Mickie James at the end.

Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley in a last man standing match

Winner Mick Foley

For a match between a wrestler who is older than dirt (Flair) and a wrestler who admits himself that he is at the end of his career, this was a solid bout. It was bloody, violent, and brutal. When flair threw Foley through the table off the entrance ramp I was hooked.

I will admit that I expected this match to be awful. I can also admit when I’m wrong; and I was certainly wrong in the case of this match. Both Flair and Foley showed me that they can still bring it once in a while. Do I want to see them wrestle every week? Absolutely not, but I take back what I said last week. These two old guys brought the house down.

Inc Inc. vs. Orlando Jordan and Eric Young

Winner Inc Inc.

TNA would deliver another solid tag match. While I am not really fond Jordan’s gimmick, he does find a way to make it work in the ring. Inc Inc. was solid like they always are. What made me chuckle was Eric Young. I know it’s silly, but I find his goofy antics in the ring funny. Eric reversing his teams own win had me laugh.

Bound For Glory Battle Royal

For the most part battle royals are kind of lame, but I kind of enjoyed this one. There were tons of near dumps with some decent action inside the ring. It was a nice touch having Abyss come in like a beast and eliminate seven guys right out of the gate. TNA has done a good job keeping him looking like a monster in the ring.

There was also funny a moment when Beer Money turned on each other only to hug and make up a short time later. This ultimately was the Abyss show though. He must have eliminated at least 14 guys or so. I haven’t seen a performance like this since Kane.

Also like the Kane performance; Abyss would not end up winning this over the top contest. It came down to Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson in the end. The battle royal would end shortly after Angle dumped Anderson to the outside. All in all I would say this was a good main event to lead into Bound for glory.

The Bad

Abyss Kidnaps Dixie Carter

Looking past the fact that this had to be the worst acting I have ever seen between two people. The last I checked kidnapping, handcuffing, and threatening to hurt your boss is against the law. This is wrestling though; so I suppose things of this nature is perfectly fine. The only thing more sad than this opening skit is the fact that Janice now has a boyfriend named Bob.

It’s a good thing Easy E was there to resolve the issue… who knows what may have happened to poor Dixie.

Wasting away the Pope

I think the pope is great. He is without a doubt one of the most talented men on the TNA roster. So why he is being wasted away in a go nowhere feud with a bunch of old wrestlers who are irrelevant at this point (besides Joe)? The Pope should be wrestling for the TNA Heavyweight title. He shouldn’t be the newest member of the geriatric club.

The Debut of Robbie E

So this is what all the lame build up was for? For those who don’t know. Robbie E is a long time Indy wrestler who has bounced around everywhere in the country. It is also worth mentioning that he isn’t all that bad inside the squared circle. Why he would choose to run with a terrible gimmick like this is beyond me.

The promo he cut was lame; and the fans let him know early. The boring chants were loud as heck on TV. I can only imagine how loud it must have been at the show. Since I know he is a solid worker in the ring I am willing to cut him a little slack, but things need to improve with his character very soon.

The Ugly

The carnival skit with Orlando Jordon and Eric Young

Seeing what Orlando Jordan has been reduced to is awful. While I am no homophobe, I didn’t need to see Orlando dressed like an ugly woman. You would think TNA would find something better to do with him. Oh well, I guess we will just have to suffer through it.
