It’s week # 6 and most teams are not half way through their schedule, but the majority are already out of the championship race.
Seventy-five D1 teams have at least two losses or more!
Some Big Names In College Are Already Out Of The Race

Teams like, Texas, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Penn State and Georgia are out of the race for the national championship.
Thankfully, without the winner take- all aspect of a predictable playoff system, these teams can still turn their season around go to a bowl game and end the season on a positive.
325 Game Have Already Been Played

As of this Saturday, October 9th,
27 teams with only 1 loss are still theoretically in the race,

About half of those don’t have much of a chance, teams like FSU, Houston, Temple, Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, are out of the mythical championship race,
but
teams like Stanford, Florida, Iowa, and Miami are 1 big win, coupled with a top 10 team losing, away from being right back in it. Well at the moment it’s a top 18,
yep- through 5 weeks, and 325 games,
only 18 teams remain undefeated.

The Cornhuskers traveled to Bill Snyder Stadium, and knocked the Wildcats out of the undefeated bracket. Leaving four teams in the Big 12 undefeated, two in each division, sounds like a fun race to the top of the league and maybe for the team left standing a shot at a national championship?
Four Will Be Three

This Saturday in the Big Ten,
The undefeated Michigan State Spartans take on their cross state rivals, Michigan who is also unbeaten, after this match up the big Ten will drop to three teams with an unblemished record.
Ohio State takes on a much improved Indiana team, while the other undefeated team, Northwestern host the Boilermakers, both of those teams should make it through the week end with victories but you never know!

About the same time as the gators and tigers are facing off, The undefeated Wildcats of Arizona, with its heck of a defense will be facing a 2-2 Oregon State team
