Are the Maple Leafs Ready to Move on Without Mats Sundin?
Mats Sundin has yet to make a decision on his playing future which means the Leafs, Habs, Canucks, Rangers and most recently the Flyers along with three other teams are waiting on him. Of course everyone knows that Mats Sundin has played for the Maple Leafs for more than ten seasons and has been loyal to them and their fans.
However everyone also knows that the Maple Leafs cannot wait until what could turn into December for a decision. So with that being said the question is raised, are the Maple Leafs ready to move on without their possibly ex-captain? Yes.... except for one thing.

New NHL Mock Draft š
A captain.
I have said it before and I will say it again, the Maple Leafs need to announce a new captain (and an assistant) soon. They cannot wait until training camp when they are desperate. I also heard a good idea here on Bleacher Report.
That idea was that the Maple Leafs need to let the players decide on their captain, that way they choose the right leader that can lead the team for years and years to come, just like Mats Sundin did.
I also have another Idea for who should choose the captain. Mats Sundin. Once you tell Mats that you are stripping him of captaincy respectfully (which they did to Scott Niedermayer), they can ask him to choose who should be captain of the team, seeming that he watched most of these players grow in the NHL.
So now that captaincy is covered, do they have the correct players to replace him? No. However, what they do have is some good, young talent that can come in about 3 years from now and play like Sundin, but his leadership is irreplaceable. For now they have Niklas Hagman, Jason Blake and Nik Antropov to try and fill in the scoring void left by Sundin.
So in the end the Maple Leafs are pretty much set for the season without Sundin, but if he comes back, great!
