Sunderland-Manchester United: Darren Bent Will Lead the Charge

There have been a few surprises this season and there is likely to be another one today.

Sunderland are unfairly considered to be outsiders at home against Manchester United and I expect that they will finally get Steve Bruce's first win over his old club.

United are really struggling to find any sort of form and the stop-start nature of their season is likely to add to the frustration in their squad.

United have welcomed back Rio Ferdinand but if he plays he is likely to be under pressure from the first minute as Darren Bent is quick and mobile, I expect Bent to win the battle with United's defence.

United are struggling to find the net at times and although Javier Hernandez showed he has an eye for goal in Europe I suspect he will be bullied out of the game, if he plays.

So there is a very nice bet to be had with Sunderland available at about four to one to win and that's where my cash has gone.

I also think there may be a red card on show as well with the game being played at a fast pace and some hard tackles flying in from both sides.

Fergie is in desperate need of a fit and so is Rooney—sooner rather than later—but he won't be that for today's game. With the loss of Valencia to a long-term injury the wiggle room in Fergie's squad has evaporated.

I reckon Sunderland 2-1 with Darren Bent to score the first goal.
