High Five! Top Inter- Weight UFC Fights I Would Like to See
There’s a lot of talk about BJ Penn moving up a weight class to challenge Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight title. It would certainly be an exciting fight between two world class fighters and almost seems like a sure bet to happen although nothing has been confirmed yet. This is one fight I would definitely get excited about and it also got me thinking on what other inter- weight class fights I would want to see in the UFC which brings us to the High Five!
5: Kenny Florian vs Diego Sanchez at Lightweight
What? I actually have a fighter moving DOWN in weight? Yes, yes I do. After having suffered consecutive losses against Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch, Diego commented that a move to lightweight might be something that he would consider. Since then, he has stayed at welterweight having fought twice with a showdown against Thiago Alves coming in October. If Diego did decide to move down, I would put him against Florian who is the number one contender at the moment. This would be a rematch of the finals from the The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 finale and I think it’s easy to say that Florian is a completely different fighter now and the fight might go longer than the last time.

4. Chuck Liddell vs Dan Henderson at Light Heavyweight
Hendo has fought in two different weight classes, but with his last and next fight in the middleweight division, he qualifies for this discussion. I think it would be fun to put two legends of the sport against each other and while they are getting older and probably do not have much fights left in them, they are still amongst the top fighters in their respective divisions. Liddell’s striking and takedown defence against Hendo’s iron chin and wrestling would be fascinating to watch for me and both possess devastating right hands that will certainly come into play and entertain the fans.
3. Anderson Silva vs Wanderlei Silva at Light Heavyweight or Middleweight
Ah, the battle of the Silvas. One time training partners, there has been talk before about a fight between the two and I for one would like to see this come to fruition. The technical striking of Anderson versus the aggressive striking of Wanderlei would be like a mesh of the ballet with hip-hop dancing. Hmmm, interesting. Plus, can you imagine how many knees would get thrown in the clinch? That will be absolutely vicious (and fun) to watch.
2. Anderson Silva vs Chuck Liddell at Light Heavyweight
Arguably the best fighter in the world against the UFC’s most popular. This is another fight that will be on the feet with the technique and precision of Silva against the counter striking and power of Liddell. They might be shy to exchange right away, but when they do, just imagining the combinations that will be thrown are sure to be a thing of beauty.
1. Anderson Silva vs Georges St. Pierre at Middleweight
Anderson again? Well, when you’re arguably the top P4P fighter in the world, people want to see you take on the best and I want to see him go head to head with another P4P contender in GSP. These are two dominant champions with amazing technical ability and this is one fight that can definitely give credence as to who the best P4P fighter in the world is.
These are my top 5 match ups that I want to see in the UFC other than GSP vs BJ Penn which is almost certain to happen. What fights would you like to see? Feel free to post your thoughts below and let your imagination roll.
