If I were the commissioner, there’s several things I would do.

Get rid of the dress code, and emphasising the game itself rather than the teams and players that are in it etc.

But if I honestly had utter control over the league, and I could make the season turn out how I want, then there are several definite things I would want to see before this time next year. I’ll try and keep realistic.

Agree? Disagree? Simply like to comment? Let me know.

Chris Paul shows us we haven't seen nothing yet.

Shaq, though still nothing of his former self, will go back to wanting to win games, and will do what’s needed to achieve that.

Kobe will get back to the finals...merely to show us of his ability, and to answer the questions of his legacy.

Dwayne Wade will show us that MJ isn’t the only one who does comebacks.

Denver get their head on straight and stop basically selling their team away.

Seattle get their team back.

Greg Oden shows he was worth the wait.

The Western conference takes advantage of a close race, before the Lakers and Blazers begin to own it for the next few years.

The Houston experiment works out.

San Antonio take advantage of what looks to be the last year of their championship window for a while.

Andrew Bynum comes back.

Detroit, show us half a season of what this team has offered for the better part of the decade, and then finally call it a day and change the look of their franchise.

New Jersey does New Jersey proud.

Steve Nash gets by without Mike D’Antoni’s offense.

Stephen Marbury plays basketball. Just once.

Kobe gets revenge on Shaq for that freestyle.

Dwight Howard continues to be superman.

Ok, they are what could happen, quite possibly. Now let’s consider first what definitely will happen:

The Tim Donaghy fiasco raises its head again.

Shaq looks old.

Dallas regrets that trade.

Dallas regrets Josh Howard.

Dallas misses Steve Nash.

Kobe re-cements his legacy.

Right, and now let’s look at what in all likelihood will not happen, but it would still be cool if it did.

Shaq, after being shunted from the playoffs, gains motivation, and becomes an all-star for his final season.

The NBA allow Dwight Howard to wear a cape in games.

LeBron is given a sidekick.

The people of Seattle literally travel to Oklahoma City, pick up the Sonics and take them home.

Gilbert Arenas becomes NBA commissioner.

Portland skip the few years they need and go straight to dominating and having easily the best line-up. (seriously, they’re going to be sick)

Ray Allen legally changes his name to Jesus Shuttlesworth.

Still, thinking about it. I’d rather just sit back and watch it all unfold.

    Steve Nash sucks. Face it.

You need defense-skills to succeed to an NBA championship, and not *the Division II-A type* either.

Shaq isn't old. He's just ----in the way---- of where Stern wants the image of the league to head, now. IOW, he's greatly desired to move on to the pasture, by NBA brass. Therefore, we will not see Shaq allowed to be Shaq anymore, the refs will make sure of it. You heard it here first.

    Still, sweet article, Hoops.

Excellent article. Of course, being a better commissioner than David Stern would hardly be challenging. He's made several bad decisions, were it within his power, I'd expect him to start sending people to Iran. NBA cares about starving children in Iraq? That'll make for a good photo.

The best one bar nun is the idea of Dwight Howard being allowed to wear a cape though.

Yes, lakers/blazers is the renewed rivalry of the rest. Wether the hornets/jazz will be up there remains to be seen. The spurs certainly do seem to be closing on their window as Duncan gets older. He's still a force though, and with the big three in place the spurs will remain a challenger for a few years.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of Houston. Lebron needs some serious help to make progress.

The heat are in the running for bounce back team of the season if D-wade is 100% and Beasley remembers that it's not all about him. (Sixers look much better now also, but they made the playoffs, so it's not as big of a surprise.) Free fall of the season goes to the nuggets who will need to completely retool.
