NHL Stats Predictions: Part One

     With training camp less than a month away, its time to predict who will be leading goals, assists, GAA, wins, etc. at the end of 82 games. This mini- series will be broken up into four different parts. I will be doing two stats each part, one stat for a goalie, and one for a skater. There are four stats for each. Today I would like to start with some minor stats.

Skater - Plus/Minus

1. Jason Spezza - OTT

2. Pavel Datsyuk - DET

3. Niklas Lindstrom - DET

4. Marian Hossa - DET

5. Alex Ovechkin - WSH

Look for Jason Spezza to have an awesome season scoring 40+ goals (34 in 07-08). Also, Pavel Datsyuk (1st in plus/minus in 07-08) will also score 40+ (31 goals in 07-08). Lindstrom will have another good year of course, with his new teammate, Hossa, trailing. Ovie should score 55+ goals as well (65 last season).

Goalie - Shutouts

1. Evgeni Nabokov

2. Henrik Lundqvist

3. Chris Osgood

4. Martin Biron

5. Pascal Leclaire

Evgeni Nabokov had 6 shutouts (3rd) last season while Lundqvist had 10 (1st). Osgood should be at the Red Wings' helm all season, and Biron the same for the Flyers. Pascal Leclaire had 9 shutouts (2nd) last year. He also shutout the opposing team in the first four games of the 07-08 season.
