Lee Corso, Tickets, Kickoffs: Eight Moments That Indicate Football Has Arrived
Everyone has that moment. You know, the moment when you realize football season is here. It's the moment when you get so excited that you wish the first game was tomorrow and you were already tailgating at the stadium.
Here are some moments I was thinking about. See if you relate to them, and feel free to add your own.
1. My Season Tickets Arrive
Who can't wait to check the mail every day that those tickets are supposed to arrive? When they finally come, it's a great feeling to see what those new tickets look like and to actually have the real things in your hand.
2. The First Kickoff of the First Games
Are you the fan that will countdown the days until some two random teams kickoff the college football season, regardless of who they are? You will be in front of the TV watching Central Michigan play Toledo if it's the first game, and you will probably treat it like the national championship game.
3. The First Conference Game Kicks Off
Who really cares about the first couple of games? The season doesn't really start until conference play starts. That's when the big games get going and you get into the annual rivalries.
4. The First Pledge Gets Sick in the Student Section from a Bad Night Before
We all know that guy―the overzealous freshman that is trying to impress everyone with how much he can drink. When Saturday comes around, he's not doing so well. Freshman mistakes will kill you.
5. Lee Corso Says His First Dumb Thing on College Gameday
Another college football season is underway, and this brings another brilliant Lee Corso comment for us all to make fun of. It's an annual tradition, isn't it?
6. I Hear the Gameday/CBS/ESPN Theme Song
Who doesn't get fired up when they hear that theme song come on? You know what I'm talking about. When you hear that song, you are ready to go.
7. Kirk Herbstreit's National Champion Pick Loses (Which Usually Happens the First Week)
You know it's not college football season until Herbstreit picks his national champ, who will then turn around and lose within the first three weeks of the season.
8. Your Local Radio Show Personality Calls for Your Coach to Be Fired
In my neck of the woods, it's Paul Finebaum. Everyone has them. It's the personality who can't have a show unless he's tearing apart the college coach and calling for him to be fired.
Do you agree with these or have some of your own? When do you know it's officially college football season?
