The Fallout of UFC 87 and Rumored December Super Card

So what have we learned from the excellent card we witnessed on Saturday night? I'll give you the rundown:

1.) Roger Huerta is not ready for top level competition like Kenny Florian yet. Much like Florian's camp said before the fight. Kenny could not finish him, but controlled a majority of the fight. Props to Kenny for landing those front kicks to the face. Looked like he was jabbing Huerta with his foot. Kenny will have to wait if he wants a title shot though.

2.) Bring on GSP/Penn II! Dana made it obvious that we should expect this mega fight for later this year. Probably on the dream card that he is creating for December (see end of article for rumored card). This fight will truly cement who the #2 P4P fighter in the world is. Winner takes Fedor's spot for beating another top ranked in my opinion.

3.) Brock Lesnar needs to drop the showboating. Sorry to say it pal, but you're not Tito Ortiz, YET. He put on a great fight and destroyed a MMA veteran, but his antics during/after the fight were just completely unprofessional. Pushing Herring back down after the 1st round was just sad. Then the ridiculous lasso thing he did after just cemented it as pathetic, plain and simple. I understand you want to celebrate your first UFC win, but do it in class. Take notes from Herring, who went over to the opposing corner and congratulated them on the win. Gonzaga is his next rumored opponent, which should make for an amazing fight.

4.) Our hopes of seeing Nate Diaz/Manny Gamburyan have been shattered, UNLESS Diaz loses his next fight. There is no way they will throw Manny to Nate after he lost to Emerson. Nate is climbing the ladder, and Manny just stumbled big time. It's a pity b/c I know Manny can take Nate no problem. As long as he holds off with the wild striking that he exhibited the other night.

5.) Demian Maia is the real deal. If you saw the fight, you agree with me. Hands down. Very impressive performance. Truly showed his ground skills in the fight. He is going to be a force in the MW division.

6.) When Cheick Kongo no longer wants to talk, don't even try to persuade him. It was one of the highlights of the night. Rogan tells Cheick to talk him through the replay and Kongo walks away with his hand up in the air, completely ignoring him. Yes, he probably didn't understand what Joe was saying, but it was still hilarious how Joe played it off. Classic.

Rumored Card for December's event (as ridiculous as it may sound):

Chuck Liddell vs. Anderson Silva
GSP vs. BJ Penn (WW Championship)
Forrest Griffin vs. (Machida/T Silva) (LHW Championship)
Wanderlei Silva vs Sokodjou
Shogun vs. Coleman

As you can see, Mir/Nogueira isn't on the card. It will be bumped up to a November card if this card actually happens. It was confirmed that Dana is trying to make this super card happen by someone "close" to the UFC. I personally don't think it will happen, nor do I agree with Machida or Thiago Silva getting the next LHW title shot. One thing is for certain though, if Dana can make this happen, then I am forever in debt to him for making one of the greatest card in the history of the UFC.
