WWE RAW Rewind (1st Edition!)
Ā Ā Ā 2 Weeks ago we were introduced to a new GM of Raw...Mike Adamle (pictured). He has a lot to prove, given that he was a backstage interview (or something like that) when he first started, then given the task of calling ECW...and now GM. Well let's get a rundown of his first official day in office, shall we?
Ā Ā Ā So RAW kicked off with a lot of confused fans...and superstars, as well as more questions than answers. Mainly "Why?" and "What?" and "Who the hell is Adamle?" But Adamle came out and gave a speech that I didn't expect. He admitted his mistakes (i.e. calling Jeff Hardy "Jeff Harvey"). But then he treated us to 3 title bouts. Then out comes JBL saying he and Adamle are cut from the same cloth and that he should be number one contender for beating John Cena at the Bash. Then Chris Jericho comes out saying he should be #1 contender because of his match at the Bash against Shawn Michaels. Adamle then announces Y2J teaming up with JBL against CM Punk, with the rules being is JBL pins Punk then he faces him at Summerslam, or if Y2J scores the win then he faces Punk for the title as SS. However, if Punk wins neither get the chance. First, was Kofi Kingston defending his Intercontinental Title against Paul Burchill.

Asuka Addresses Retirement Talk, More Buzz š
Ā Ā Ā Kofi is a very talented athlete and very excited to watch, as well as Paul, but their matches never seem to be as excited as they should be. They almost become predictable. Paul deserves a title run, be it singles or tag (pair him up with William Regal and you got yourself a tough duo). Kofi, seems a little too young in his career to hold a title, he should have had a bigger feud than the one with Shelton Benjamin (that didn't even lead anywhere really). So Kofi gets the win and then interference by Katie Lea; which brings us to title defense number two.
Ā Ā Ā Out comes Mickie James to help out the Jamaican Buzzsaw and defend her title it was obviously going to be a predictable match. Basically, Mickie wins and the Burchills' aren't happy...Before Mickie could jump around and bast in the glow of victory, Miss Beth Phoenix comes out and cleans house, only to be joined by Santino Marella.
Ā Ā Ā First off, Santino is a very underrated superstar. I find his segments on RAW some of my favorite. He has the mic skills and comedic timing to make anyone bust a stitch laughing, however, creative doesn't seem to think he has the skills to wrestle. When he first started out in the WWE he seemed to be a promising act. Then they switched him to the funny man who loses in funny ways. But the booking of his relationship with Beth is a good idea. It gives him protection and a love interest. Anyways, so Beth and Santino go speak to GM Adamle and they each want a title match (Santino/IC and Beth/Women's). But Adamle throws a wrench into their plans saying there is only room for one more title match. Beth and Santino both say they want to do what the other one wants and Santino says they both want him to have the last match on the Summerslam Card. Beth then says she wants a Women's Title match and Santino says he can't be Women's champion (see he's funny). Adamle has a solution: winner takes all match Santino and Beth against Kofi and Mickie. If Beth and Santino win then we get new Women's and IC champs! I see something of a mis- communication about winning, and that is Beth pins Kofi or Mickie she becomes BOTH Women's and IC champ. Same with Santion winning.
Ā Ā Ā Moving on, the next match was another Adamle Original. JBL & Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk to decide the number one contender for Summerslam. Before the match starts Adamle comes on the Tron and says the match has a 10 minute time limit, if no one can score a pin fall or submission then at SS it'll be a triple threat for the World Title. Jericho has new trunks to reflect his new "seriousiness." I've been a Jericholic for a while and was pumped when he came back, I'm a little disappointed he never got the gold from Randy Orton.
Ā Ā Ā The match had Y2J and JBL double teaming Punk for a short bit then turning on each other. It was a close match through-out. Jericho and Punk always put on great matches...JBL is a little out of shape and flabby (it's the same thing...but I don't care). The closing seconds seemed like Punk was gonna win, then Jericho was gonna win...but JBL actually won. I was hoping Jericho would win or at the very least make it a triple threat.
Ā Ā Ā Matt Striker comes out and says there's no one for him to wrestle...I wonder who will come out...KANE! Total squash. Squash matches help no one. The person who loses seems weaker and then the person who wins seems invincible, so then when they do lose it makes the other guy look even stronger...
Ā Ā Ā Last match...Cena-nuff and Botchista vs. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for the World Tag Team titles. What I don't get is why is this the main event? Any match with the World Champion (CM Punk) should be the main event/last match. Anyways, I had a couple predictions: 1) Cena and Batista would end up fighting and losing the match, 2) Rhodes and DiBiase would find some way to cheat, 3) WWE builds up Cena and Batista even more by letting them win...guess which one happened. Cena and Batista won and then had a battle of title raising. Cena is talented, but WWE makes him out to be this unstoppable force. And his promos run long and are boring. Batista, isn't as talented as Cena...or a lot of other superstars...actually I retract the Cena being talented remark...back to cutting down Batista. He thinks he deserves more than he gets...which I don't think he has earned it yet.
Ā Ā Ā Well in a nut-shell RAW, now has a GM, Cena only has 4 moves, Batista thinks he's the best thing since sliced-bread, Jericho needs a title run, Santio is funny, and Adamle did an ok job as GM so far.
I'm OUTS!
