Getting a Taste of One's Own Medicine Is Surely a Hard One to Swallow
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has ruled out "any possibility" of Robinho leaving the Spanish champions for Chelsea.
The statement came just days after Manchester United confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo would be staying at United after all. Ronaldo was subject to the most talked about transfer saga throughout the whole summer. A saga that started way before the Euro '08 championships.
In that case, Calderon insisted Ronaldo should join Real Madrid and claimed he had done nothing wrong, when in fact he had done a lot wrong.

When a club is interested in another club's player, there are proper channels to go through. Calderon must have thought he was above all that, when he went directly to the media and expressed his interest in signing Ronaldo and offered a huge salary while he was at it. He did this in hope that Ronaldo would consider it and in the process get on the wrong side of SAF.
This seemed to be working as Ronaldo continuously claimed 'nobody knows the future.' One can only assume that he wanted to join Real Madrid but he was being held back by United and rightly so.
Throughout this whole saga, Caledron portrayed an image of arrogance and ignorance. The belief that every super star should join Real Madrid just because he feels every super star's home the Bernabeu is just sickening.
Now that Calderon failed in his vicious attempts to land Ronaldo, he is getting a little taste of his own medicine. However, I must stress that Chelsea have gone through all the right channels in their search to land Real Madrid's Robinho.
Calderon though, reacted angrily to this and said:
"Definitely he's going to stay with us. The coach (Bernd Schuster) has said he wants him in our team," Calderon told BBC Radio Five Live.
"We don't see any possibility of him leaving Real Madrid. We know Chelsea have been interested in signing him. He's one of the best players we have got in our team - we need him for the next season."
That being said, Robinho himself wants the move to Chelsea finalised quickly. His agent has been very vocal in the press lately and he said: "Robinho is very angry with the way the Madrid bosses are dealing with him.
"He calls me every day to know whether anyone has spoken to me about his future and I always have to tell him that no-one has called.
"I have been trying to speak with someone from the club for three days. Robinho does not understand what is going on. His ambition is to become the best player in the world but he won't achieve that at Madrid because they treat him like a normal player.
"He didn't like at all the idea of being fourth choice in the plans Madrid have had this summer. First they wanted to sign Cristiano Ronaldo but couldn't. Their second option was (Rafael) Van der Vaart. Third is (Valencia striker David) Villa. Robinho is fourth. Robinho's plan was to play for Real Madrid for many years, but he no longer feels that way".
Robinho is also said to be unhappy with Real Madrid's valuation of him. When they offered United £50 million plus Robinho, he felt unwanted and under-valued.
If Calderon believes he was right to go after Ronaldo the way he did, then he has nothing to complain about this time around. He infamously said that 'slavery was abolished many, many years ago' when asked about Ronaldo transfer saga.
Tasting one's own medicine is surely a sour one to taste.
In the end whether Robinho joins Chelsea or not, the difference between the two transfer issues is that Robinho actually wants to quit Real Madrid.
