Did WWE Make An Example of Chris Harris?
On January 29, 2008, popular Total Nonstop Action Wrestling star Chris Harris signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, with no disrespect to TNA this was a massive jump.
TNA has grown since the organisation began back in 2002 and now runs weekly television shows on Spike TV (former host of WWE Monday Night RAW) and monthly PPV events. Harris, 34, was there since the beginning, he had been with TNA since day one.
Back when they used to wrestle in a standard 4 sided ring in the TNA Assylum in Tennessee. He could of arguably been called a "TNA Veteran", but Harris at 34 years old knew that he had to take the chance when WWE showed interest and he did which is when he signed a deal.
After signing Harris waiting and waited, wrestling dark match after dark match as Chris Harris. The name he had made popular in TNA winning 7 Tag Team Championships, 6 of those with James Storm in America's Most Wanted, a legendary team in TNA. However, eventually after all the waiting, Harris was going to get his break.
No vignettes, no teasers but none the less he was on WWE Television. On July 8, 2008 he made his debut as Braden Walker on WWE's third and least watched brand ECW on Sci Fi. The show pulls roughly the same ratings as TNA iMPACT! and on iMPACT! he was a star, now he was overweight, out of shape and wrestling in the worlds most disgusting singlet probably left over from the Fabulous Moolah collection.

He defeated the brands former General Manager Armando Estrada, who in storyline, at the time, didn't even have a contract with the company - nobody of great significance you see.Ā
Nearly a month later he made his next appearance, still no profile on WWE.com's roster page, and told upcoming challenger for the ECW World Championship - Matt Hardy that he has his back tonight. After that, Braden Walker's WWE career was over. He was released a few days later. Nobody noticed or cared.
2 appearances during his 190 days was all it lasted. Thats half the time that John Cena held the belt for from September 2006 to October 2007.
However, a year ago he was a huge TNA star, feuding with former WWE cast offs Christian Cage and Dustin "Goldust" Rhodes.
So WWE can take an established 6 year star like Chris Harris, and make a fool out of him on TV and send him packing? That makes TNA and some of its home grown talent, look very weak not to mention make WWE look far superior. I think this was intentional by WWE, I mean a Tag Team wrestler from a second class (compared to WWE) organization, what plans could they have ever had for him?
Moves like this and flops like Monty "Marcus Cor Von" Brown will make TNA stars like AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Abyss, Chris Sabin and others who would and could make great additions to the WWE roster stay clear.
Now, after leaving TNA for WWE and been dumped by them, Chris Harris could only dream of walking out in the iMPACT! Zone and wrestling in that six sided ring, when at 34, he may have seen his best days behind him.
All because he moved to a bigger company.
