"The Ultimate Fighter 12: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck" will include 28 lightweights that will fight for a golden opportunity to compete in the world famous octagon.
I believe St. Pierre said it best as he stated, "I'm the perfect good guy, he's the perfect bad boy", in reference to his rival coach Josh Koscheck.
UFC President Dana White announced the return of the wild card, where there's seven preliminary fights, and on the eighth preliminary fight they will take the best two guys who lost and bring them back as wild card fighters. Whoever wins the wild card fight, will get the last quarter final slot.
You also get the feeling the season is going to be special as White wastes no time in giving his tough love speech.
"I don't think it's a f***ing secret what what we're looking for here", White said.
"We want to see guys f***ing go after it tomorrow. We want to see guys with that killer instinct and who want to be fighters and more than just fighters I want to see guys who want to be world champions. This is the last time I'm going to say it, give us every f***ing thing you guys got in these fights tomorrow, go for it", White said in closing.
One fighter that I recognized instantly is Nam Phan (16-7). While Phan is undersized at lightweight, he never is in a boring fight and may just deliver the kind of gritty performance Dana White and the casual observers of the sport are looking for.
It seems apparent that White has set the bar pretty high here for the 12th season.
Could any of the fighters live up to those high standards after being under the tutelage of Josh Koscheck and UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre?
Tune into the "Ultimate Fighter" season 12 next Wednesday night at 10:00 p.m. ET and find out.
