Who is Arsene Wenger's Next Transfer Target?

Arsene Wenger has already expressed his view on signing another player until the end of the transfer market.

He has some options set before him but not all of them are as simple as just spending the money.

Xabi Alonso is the most obvious one as the speculation has been over the media for a while. Xabi is 26 years of age and plays in almost every position in the midfield. He is experienced, has great vision and very precise passing skills.

He might be exactly what Arsenal are looking for but Liverpool will only sell if they buy Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.

The price on him is around £16m with the possibly of going up due to the rivalry  between the two teams.

Another player which might fit Wenger’s requirements is Real Madrid’s Ruben de la Red.

The 23-year-old is a centre midfielder. He spent a very successful loan spell at Getafe last season, grabbing 49 first team appearances. He played an important role for the team.

However, he has a clause in the contract to return to Real Madrid if he performs well. Bernd Schuster has also stated he is willing to give the boy a shot for the first team.

Real Madrid have put a price tag on him of around £9.5m.

Arsene Wenger has not been hidding his admiration for Manchester City’s youngster Michael Johnson. He is only 20 years old and is an England Under-21 national player. He had three goals scored in 33 matches for Manchester City.

Recently appointed manager Mark Hughes has had to fend off interest from Liverpool for the youngster. The player has been offered a new tempting contract but he has not made a decision yet.

His price is in the range of £12m pounds.

These are just a number of players that Wenger could go after or he could always surprise us all and buy the most unexpected player. Only time will tell.
