I hate the phrase I told you so...but I told you so.

Brett Favre has finally found a home.  The New York Jets acquired the three time MVP quarterback from the Packers in a late night trade.

The Jets, whom recently stepped up in the trade market, outlasted the favorite in the Favre sweepstakes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In the sports world sometimes the long shot horse beats the field of favorites leaving the spectators dumbfounded.

The news of this may have had the same effect to many, and despite some articles dealing with the Favre and Tampa Bay that I have penned; I always felt this would be the end result.

The New York Jets get Brett Favre for a fourth round draft pick that, respective to where the Jets finish in the standings, which may move up as high as a second round pick.  Brett Favre will be the latest piece of the puzzle for a team that has already spent a considerable amount of money on improving their team during the off-season.

Many synics claim that there won't be any magic in the NY/NJ area this fall because it is too short of time for Brett Favre to learn the playbook.

All I can say is, Favre has been around the block and in his 17th year, I doubt this would be any different.

The Jets also solve their problem with an extreme lack of productivity at the Quarterback position.

Chad Pennington is the odd man out which many have speculated was only a matter of time.  Pennington had a rash of trouble and deteriorating arm strength which made his effectiveness very limited.

The Jets have finally made the moves to take a stand in the NFL and gain credibility and respect overnite.  The recent trade will keep many defensive coordinators in the AFC East up late at night.

Many questions will be asked, including why Brett had a change of heart in accepting the trade to the Jets.  Ultimately the Packers controlled where the Super Bowl Champion QB would be dealt.

This trade changes everything for Favre and the Jets; it brings closure to the teams involved, and finally an ending to the saga that unfolded over the past weeks.

Welcome back Brett.
