1. Petr Cech (Chelsea) Starting XI. No explanation needed.

3. Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Sub. Best keeper of Euro '08, only gets a place in the subs here.

2. Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) Res. He's the reserve, and only misses out on the starting XI.

Defenders

4. Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) RB. Attacking flair as well as sound in defence.

5. John Terry (Chelsea) CB. Mr Chelsea... nothing more to say!

6. Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United) CB. A brilliant last season, sturdy as a rock.

7. Phillip Lahm (Bayern Munich) LB. Will complement Ramos well. Has enough denfensive cover to back up his attacking wanderings.

Midefielders

8. Michael Essien (Chelsea) CDM. Has learnt and gone ahead of Makelele.

9. Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) CM. Leads the team to glory.

10. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) RM. World's best player!

11. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) LM - Prodigy.

Forwards

12. Fernando Torres (Liverpool). Lead Spain to the Euro win.

13. Didier Drogba (Chelsea). A little off-color off late, but has enough to keep him in the team.

Subs and Reserves

14. Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal) CM. Playmaker of the year... and he's young.

15. Matthie Flamini (AC Milan) CM. Another one who kept Arsenal up.

16. Wesley Sneijder (Real Madrid) CAM. Brilliant form and play.

17. Kaka (AC Milan) LM. Always excellent.

18. Jesus Navas (Sevilla) RM. Great talent.

19. Pepe (Real Madrid) CB. Great year for Portugal and Real.

20. Daniel Alves (Barcelona) RB. Can replace Ramos.

21. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) CF. Hardworking and strong striker.

22. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter Milan) CF. Helped Inter to the Serie A yet again.

23. Per Mertesacker (Werder Bremen) CB. Greatness in potential.
