Favre-Gate 08'

This whole Brett Favre Green Bay Packers saga has to come to an end. I know people are sick and tired of seeing and hearing all about Mr. Favre. You cant put on the tv without hearing something about Favre.

One day after there had been reports that the Packers would have an open competition it seems that today that is not the case. Even Favre himself seems to think that Aaron Rodgers deserves the Packers starting job since he has been with the team since the beginning of camp.

Favre doesn't think he can forgive Green Bay for all their attempts to get him to stay retired or get him investigated by the NFL. Whether it be for tampering with the Vikings or trying to basically buy him out for a reported 25 million just to stay retired.

Favre wants to be released and I agree with Green Bay on this matter by not letting him walk for nothing. His namesake still holds value and they have to be able to at least get a 7th round pick for him.

The way I see it they have 2 choices:

1) Just cut bait with him let him walk and sign with whoever he damn well pleases. The GB brass obviously doesn't believe in him any more to be their starting QB so what would the big deal be to let him go sign with who he wants and bring the circus to another team. This has already been a major distraction to the team and no doubt to STARTING QB Aaron Rodgers. Obviously if they do just cut him he will definitely sign in the NFC North and try to come back to haunt them.

2) Trade him for whatever they can get for him. Even if they got back a bag of balls and some chalk to line the fields it would be worth it because you cant just let one of the best Qb's ever walk away with nothing in return. Minnesota or Chicago would,no doubt in my mind, give up a 4th round pick just to acquire Favre. He would instantly make the Vikings one of the favorites in the NFC and would immensely help out Chicago coach from having to choose between Rex GROSSman or Kyle neck beard-Orton.

Green Bay has already handled this situation so poorly that it might as well just lick their wounds and move on. Get the Aaron Rodgers era started instead of pushing it back another year. If they keep Favre around Rodgers might get pissed off and walk when he becomes a free agent. What ever their choice I just hope they do it fast because I am sick of hearing about this situation!
