How Favre The Packers Will Go....

The past 7 months have been disastrous for the Green Bay Packers, starting with the loss to the New York Giants in the NFC championship game to the Brett Favre Saga.  Now with Favre back on the field, how 'open' will the competition be at quarterback? Yea, Mike McCarthy was coach of the year, but is this completely his decision?  If Brett does win the starting spot, as he could, they have the pieces around him to make as good if not a better run than they did last year.  Ryan Grant has re-signed, which is a key to the offense, 950+ yards in 8 games last year.  Also the rest of the backfield is healthy, with DeShawn Wynn who showed some promise last year returning and Brandon Jackson healthy along with Vernard Morencey, all of a sudden they are a deep backfield.  Korey Hall will presumably be the fullback, as he did well last year.  Driver, Jennings, and Jones, all were superb last year, especially Jennings in his 2nd year, and Jones as a rookie.  Jordy Nelson was drafted to add another man to that corps, things look good in the Wide out position.  The offensive line looks like it will be stable also for the upcoming season, losing nothing and adding a couple of players from the draft.  Back-up quarterbacks (whether Favre or Rodgers start)will include 2nd round pick Brian Brohm, who threw for over 10,000 yards in his career at Lousville.  And Matt Flynn who led LSU to national championship, was a 7th round pick.  On the opposite side of the ball things are looking pretty good.  KGB is returning from surgery and says he will be 100% for the opener.  On the other side is always strong, Aaron Kampman.  In between those two guys will be Johnny Jolly, and Ryan Pickett, backed up by second year player Justin Harrell and Colin Cole.  The linebackers core, is still young with middle Nick Barnett, weak side AJ Hawk and Brady Poppinga or off-season acquisition, Brandon Chillar in on the strong side.   The corners include seasoned, and proven veterans, Al Harris, and Charles Woodson, along with rookie, Pat Lee, and special teams, specialists Will Blackmon and Tramon Williams will get some plays at corner.   The Free safety  to start the season will be Nick Collins and the Strong Safety  Atari Bigby.  Kicker Mason Crosby will his duties after a great rookie season, as will Jon Ryan. The team looks like it hasn't lost a step since its great campaign last year, so hopefully it can keep up to pace like last year.  A lot will be riding on the running game especially if Rodgers wins the starting job, teams will make him prove he's got what it takes to be an NFL quarterback.
