Alberto Del Rio: Anyone Not Impressed?
Hey Bleacherholics,
After a brief hiatus from my Bleacher Report writing duties, I have returned. My last article was published in June, and since then, I have often felt the urge to write but have lacked the inspiration. I was going to write about the Nexus, but it had already been done.
So, I waited for another story, and finally, here it is.
The latest edition of Smackdown was one I will remember for a while. Not becuse of Kane's so called explanation, or Cody Rhodes and Drew Mcintyre beatdown, but because of Alberto Del Rio.
WWE hyped his debut, but I wasn't convinced. I admit, I was looking foward to it, but I certainly wasn't going to die if i didn't. I'm no genuis on the Mexican Wrestling scene, and I've never seen a match of his, but I do know Del Rio is part of a well respected family. So for all I Know, he could be all family and no skill.
On Smackdown, Alberto interupted Rey Mysterio's promo. Alberto came down, and to me, I felt a star in the making. The dude could hold his own in promos, and could speak English almost as fluently as Mysterio. After the stand off finished; Mysterio asked for a match and Del Rio accepted.
The main event was set, but I didn't know what to expect.
Alberto's entrance was sublime. He drove out in his Rolls Royce, then popped out in gold trunks. He leaped onto the ramp, and fireworks streamed from the ceiling. From that moment, I was 100 percent sure someone up thereliked him and that he was aimed for main event stardom. The match was pretty decent but most of Rey's are normally.
After Smackdown finished, I went on the world wide web and did some searching. After not so long, I found a number of sources saying that Alberto Del Rio is being promoted to be the next hispanic star as WWE feel Rey is likely to retire sooner rather than later. This is likely true, how often do you see a debut go as perfect as this? A win via submission on a main eventer in your debut, WWE have got this one good.
For a while now, Chris Jericho has been my favourite wrestler and hardly anyone comes close. Sure there is HHH, but I don't like him that much. To be honest, I only like Orton's RKO, Cena needs to be a heel. The next favourite is probably Edge or christian or Kurt Angle.
HBK was my second favourite but now he is retired. I have a load of favourite wrestlers but none really excite the smae way Y2J does. Util now.
Alberto Del Rio is probably on lock to get my second favourit spot now
Alberto Del Rio is a breath of fresh air, and will probably be one of my top five wrestlers I like today.
Pleas leave a comment, thanks for the read!
