The Lo'Down #1: July 28 WWE Raw Review

RJ TootheCorrespondent IAugust 3, 2008

Well folks this is the inaugural edition of The Lo'Down, and I am going to start with RAW this week. We got a great feud build, a subpar promo, a blossoming story, and a shock.

We'll start with the great feud build, and I am referring to Chris Jericho. Man, can this guy cut a promo, but for some reason Lance Cade just brings Y2J down for me.

Nevertheless, the new Y2J is a silver lining in the dark cloud that has been RAW promos as of late. With Shawn Michaels addressing the fans on RAW this week, you know there's going to be fireworks. I'd like to see this feud culminate at Summerslam in a Last Man Standing match, so we'll cross our fingers.

Now we move on to the Batista-John Cena promo that kicked off RAW. I must say for the hometown boy this week, Batista cut a very unconvincing promo.

As my friend Linda put it, "Each time Batista laughed, it sounded so forced and it seemed like an effort for him to even deal with Cena," and I agree with her 100 percent. They also made John Cena look like a lowly midcarder backing down to Batista and being very un-Cena like.

Since his return, John Cena has somewhat grown on me, which is hard seeing about how much I disliked him in 2007, where he didn't lose a match at a pay per view.

But the Cena they showed on Monday night is not a Cena I'd like to get used to seeing and hopefully there will be some kind of build this Monday, with those two taking on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr for the Tag Team Championships.

Speaking of the Tag Champs for a second, I think that this storyline that they're doing with Lawler and Duggan s actually pretty good. I think that this feud could put the two young guns over as "Legend Killers" in their own right as well as build up some good heel heat for them in the process.

With Cody taking out Michael Cole on RAW last Monday, I know I'll be very interested to see what Jerry will do to give these guys payback.

Now on to the midcard spotlight of RAW, Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix. This storyline really catches my attention because I was at RAW live the week they first kissed and it's a very funny angle.

This is also a way to get Santino back into the Intercontinental Championship picture, because I think that Santino is very talented and should be used to his potential.

I think that Beth will give Santino that boost and maybe get him a title, heck maybe they'd even win the Tag Team Championships. That would be a hoot don't ya think?

On to the shocker of the evening. We have a new GM, and his name is Mike Adamle! Now I know at first, like most of America, I sat in front of my TV with my jaw on the floor with disbelief as well as anger.

I was very angry about Adamle being a GM at first, but I laid in bed that night thinking and I realized that this might not be too bad. I mean we'll get some comedy because I can almost guarantee that they will make Adamle screw up the names and match types and all that.

WWE could use him right, too, if he makes more matches like Cena vs. Batista at Summerslam.

I was thinking that they could give him a Co-GM to correct his mistakes and also so the GM position isn't a joke—someone like Regal who could still be serious but cut some funny segments with Adamle as well.

So overall I rate RAW a solid 4 out of 5 this week and that folks, is The Lo'Down.
