Is WWE Trying to Bury Jack Swagger After Making Him a Champion

Jack Swagger won the Money in the Bank ladder match at this year's Wrestlemania event. From there he went on to cash it in on Chris Jericho to win his first World Title.

It seemed as if Jack Swagger was on the rise. He had an amazing feud with Christian over the ECW title that helped elevate both superstars. His trademark lisp and cocky attitude made him an ideal heel.

Coming from a collegiate background, Swagger seemed destined to follow in the footsteps of guys like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar. Now it seems as if his steam may have run out.

Since losing the World Title Jack Swagger has been on a downhill slope and it's only getting steeper for the All American American. He has been used sparingly on Smackdown in recent months and has been relegated to matches on WWE's lowest ranking show Superstars.

I like Swagger because he brings pure athletic background and he is not the cookie cutter image WWE usually goes for.

Swagger, while charismatic, is not in the same category as some of WWE's other top stars. He is in great shape but has a little it of love handles going on, which is fine. These days since Steroids are tested for and other drugs have been banned he looks like a real athlete, not a bodybuilder with more veins than brain cells.

If there is one thing I can be certain of it's that Jack Swagger is one guy who can help WWE's youth movement be successful and taken seriously.

When Swagger first won the title the IWC went crazy with articles calling him the next Kurt Angle and the savior of WWE. Now it looks like he may have fallen into the same trap that caught Shelton Benjamin.

Shelton was talented beyond belief, but his lack of personality got in the way and eventually WWE felt they couldn't use him anymore. Swagger has been the same character since he debuted. His promos have become copies of his previous promos.

I wish Swagger would get some more coaching from the WWE Hall of Famers who are on staff as agents and trainers. He has a ton of potential and no way to let it out.

When Vince McMahon likes someone, they get a push, if he sours on them then the push stops. So one has to wonder if Swagger did something to piss off the boss. I haven't heard of anything about it but it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I for one hope this turns around and Swagger gets another push, but he needs to put in the work to become a better heel in order for that to happen.
