We are now about a month away from the start of training camp for the 2008-09 NHL season. Me and my hockey-crazed brother have begun work on our own fantasy hockey magazine, predicting the stats for every player on the starting roster of an NHL team.
We hope we can accurately predict most players' statistics, and we hope to help you with your fantasy hockey teams. A new article will be posted every couple of days at the most, and some teams will come even sooner. We will be doing this in alphabetical order.
Note: Because of their salary cap situation, both Mathieu Schneider and Tood Marchant are basically guaranteed to be gone by the start of the NHL season so they were not included. If some different changes occur, the article will be updated accordingly.
2008-09 Projected Lineup
Bobby Ryan-Ryan Getzlaf-Corey Perry
Chris Kunitz-Brendan Morrison-Ryan Carter
Travis Moen-Samuel Pahlsson-Rob Niedermayer
Brad May-Brian Sutherby-George Parros
Chris Pronger-Sean O’Donnell
Scott Niedermayer-Francois Beauchemin
Joe Dipenta-Kent Huskins
Ryan Getzlaf. He managed 82 points in just his third NHL season last year. Look for him to improve on his 24 goals and possibly challenge for 100 points.
Brendan Morrison. After five consecutive healthy seasons Morrison experienced both wrist and knee problems last year. He may be a decent pickup later in the season, if he can remain healthy.
