The WWE Is Destroying the Future Of Their Own Company
Last night I was watching RAW like I always do. To my surprise it was a solid edition that answered a lot of my questions. I wondered how they would keep the heat on NEXUS going. They answered by having all them face single elimination style matches.ย It was a nice way to fix what some may argue was a bad decision at Summer Slam.
As I was watching though, I couldnโt help but get a little annoyed. The show started with Jericho doing a clean job to Barret. At first this didnโt bother me because as a Jericho fan Iโm used to seeing him put over talent. It is one of the great selfless things that Jericho does for this business.

Following that match I couldnโt help but notice that no other major star did a clean job. Orton and Edge both lost their matches via count out, and John Cena flat out won his bout. I was scratching my head thinking โwhat the heck is going on hereโ.
Why is it that the WWE found it proper that only Jericho do a clean job? Wouldnโt it make sense for Orton and Edge to do the job clean? After all,ย the purpose was to have NEXUS get their heat back. Having them win by count out doesnโt achieve that purpose.
This made me think a little farther down the road. At Summerslam Orton won his match by DQ. I am assuming this was a way to keep the belt on Sheamus without taking heat away from Orton. Here is my problem with that line of thinking.
How is Sheamus ever supposed to be taken serious when he canโt get a clean win? I remember Orton fought Swagger and it was Swagger that did the job. That was just another example of Orton taking juice from an up and coming champ.
Please donโt think this is just a bash on Orton. There are other stars that are just as guilty in all of this mess. I canโt remember the last time I saw Cena take a clean job. Yet Jericho has no problem jobbing to guys like Barret and Bourne. It is the new talent that will lead this company in the future after all.
Iโm not sure if itโs the wrestlers themselves or booking, but it is a problem when great talent like Sheamus or Swagger aren't chosen to get a big win over a made star. People have wondered why Swagger's run wasnโt a good one. I know his mic skills have apart to do in all that, but it is also because they never had him pick up any big wins.
Now we are seeing the same done to Sheamus right now. They advertise him as the next big monster heel, yet they have him loose by DQ last night. To make matters worse they have him get punked out to Kane in the same night. How am I supposed to take this guy seriously after that?
Egos have no place in the wrestling business when it comes to the progressing of future talent. Whether itโs the talent or the writers, the WWE needs to get their act together fast. If they donโt they just might find themselves in a whole heap of trouble at the end of the day.ย ย
