PGA Championship 2010: Ripple Effect For FedEx Cup Players on the Bubble

Thomas MorelandAug 14, 2010

In case you have not noticed, this man does not smile as much lately.

There is, however, light at the end of the tunnel. Tiger was 119th on the Fed-Ex Cup point race to the $10 million payday that series of tournaments bring to the winner.

This week at Whistling Straits, he should move up the FedEx list with a decent showing on Sunday. That is not a given, but he has looked sharper this weekend, with quite a few very "Tigerish" shots.

Let's see if any other players are helped or hindered this week at the PGA Championship.

Steve Elkington at No. 91 will shore up his spot on the FedEx Cup Point Rankings, as he is now at minus-eight and challenging to win this event.

Michael Sim missed the cut this week and might slide further south from position No.Ā  100. On the Bubble.

John Merrick missed the cut this week, and this will drop him down a few more notches as well. Merrick was at No. 98.

Davis Love III was 92nd on the FedEx Cup Rankings to start the PGA Championship, and is now moving up a bit currently at 60th place at plus one this weekend.

Bryce Molder at No. 49 is assured of a playoff spot in the first FedEx Cup playoff event, as he is having a fantastic week, and has an outside chanceĀ of winning.

Jason Dufner will also benefit this week, solidifying his position from No. 83 and moving that number way down with just an average, good professional round.

Derek Lamely has missed the cut and will drop a bit from position No. 80. Maybe on the Bubble.

Perhaps the biggest name on the bad side of this list is Sergio Garcia, having a bit of frustration in a bunker, and sitting at 90th on the FedEx Cup points list. On the Bubble.

D.A. Points at 81st on the FedEx Cup Standings will surely benefit from a tie for 19th currently. Points has been playing well lately.

Ernie Els is having a good week, and will remain No. 1 on the points list, unless Furyk or Johnson wins, then one of them will overtake Ernie Els.

Tomorrow will be a great day of golf on the final round of the PGA Championship, and I hope you enjoy it.
