As a wrestling writer, one of the things I enjoy most is a good interview. Especially when it comes from guys that are no longer in the business. I feel that we get much more honest answers to questions we want to know. Well, recently, HBK did an interview with ESPN’s Bill Simmons that was very good. I won’t give you the spoilers, just a few teasers because it is an interview worth hearing.
They did go over some topics that you fans may find interesting. For starters, HBK stated that he has no plans to ever return to wrestling. That is just the tip of the iceberg, though; he also discusses his match with Taker, and the future guys that will carry the business in the next decade. Here are some highlights for you to chew on:
HBK on returning back to action
"I understand the skepticism with that (retiring), but I wouldn't have left unless I was ready for it. I made the decision the month before WrestleMania 25. I didn't know how it was going to look, but knew WrestleMania 26 would be the last one."
HBK on his match with Taker
"The things Undertaker and I did, technically, we didn't really do any moves people didn't see before. It's the mental side, painting the picture. Connecting from emotional standpoint. Too many guys are thinking about the physical aspect of it."
